This is Chad Harrison and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.

Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.

I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.

I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up.

His word to you and allow you.

To see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name before.

But it's going to describe the cherubs and the cherubim which guard the holiness of God. And, and so we're going to get to see that.

We're going to get to see some worship in heaven.

We're going to get to see the first time that worship goes on in heaven and then we're going to get to see the later on, we're going to get to see worship in the next chapter and it's going to add a party.

And you're going to be able to note the same ideas that I'm going to talk about this week. You're going to be able to note some of those ideas as the same thing next week.

And so we are in the throne room of heaven and we've seen the throne of God and we've seen the 4 and 20 elders. And I need to describe that real quick before we move into it.

The 4 and 20 elders represent the complete priesthood. And I went through that last week. And if you wanna kinda understand that a little more,

go on Facebook and look up last week and you'll be able to see how I described that the 24 elders is a picture because of the way they worked. The temple or the tabernacle is a picture of the complete priesthood, because 24 elders would have represented the whole priesthood during the two weeks that each group of 24 would have worked there.

And they would have worked there for two weeks. So that would have been 26 rotations a year.

And being that there were so many Levites, so many Levites that could be priests,

the likelihood that you would get to go to minister as a priest in the temple or the tabernacle before the temple meant that, you know, you might only get to go once,

maybe twice in your adult lifetime.

And so it was very special to them. And that's why we get the story of the good Samaritan. And you see the priest going around him because he was on his way up to Jerusalem as the man who was beaten was on his way down to Jericho, which is also a biblical picture of going up to the presence of God or going down to.

Well, it's not hell, but down to destruction and death and pain. And that's what Jericho represents, being the first city that the Israelites took when they entered into the promised land.

And so we've got the throne room, and we got the four and 20 elders. And verse five says this, and from the throne proceeded. And we talked about this last week.

Lightning,

thundering and voices. And we talked about the three different ways God's voice is described, especially in the prophetic, but also also in some other situations in Scripture, especially on the mountaintop,

when God's voice sounds like a trumpet.

That is a picture of the pronouncement or the movement of God. God telling his people to move, okay?

It is a picture of them taking the shofar and blowing the shofar, which is that ram's horn. Y' all have seen them blow those things.

That's a ram's horn. And it's a picture of telling God's people to get up and move,

okay? Get up and do something. Get up and be a part of something.

When you have the sound of God as the sound of thunder,

which is preceded by lightning,

you have God in his role as sovereign judge.

First of all, it's the sovereignty of God and that he is holy and he is right to be able to make judgments,

okay? So he's holy, he's righteous, and he's able to make judgments. And then you have God as the many waters. And if you'll remember, I talked last week about the Pentecost and the sound of many voices.

Remember, waters is a representation of people,

mainly Gentile people.

The Jews are represented whenever it's talked, talks about the land of the Promised Land. And then when you have the seas,

you have the Gentiles.

So we've got God in his righteous, holy throne room voice speaking to us.

And he's not just speaking to the Jews. He's speaking to the church, which is there with him, okay? Which is the mystery of the Old Testament. And so that's very important,

a very important vision for you to have is that God is announcing that he's holy and righteous, just like he was on Mount Sinai, on the mount where he gave the Ten Commandments.

He's the same way. And yet, rather than just giving his law, his holy, his holy Law to the Jews. He, he is, he's able to give that to, he's able to give his word.

He's able to give, he's able to speak to the nations, all of us. So all of us are there and we're the 4 and 20 elders, which means we're the, we're the holy priesthood.

And remember, he's going to say this and he's going to save it a couple of times.

Has he not made them priests and kings before him? And he's talking about the church.

All right,

Also remember,

I'm just trying to make sure I nailed down all the things that we talked about.

Also remember when Daniel saw the throne room, same throne, same situation.

There were 24 chairs around the throne, but they didn't have anybody in them.

Now you have 24 chairs that are full.

The 24 elders, the 24 priests,

the complete priesthood.

You got to know that in order to know what we're going to be talking about in just a minute. It says, and it says seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne,

which is a representation of the Holy Spirit.

So you've got God the Father, you've got the 24 elders, you've got the Holy Spirit. And remember,

for humanity, the Holy Spirit's necessary for God's revelation. Okay, there's two things that are absolutely necessary for God's revelation. The first thing is Jesus and his and his role not only as a Messiah, not only as,

as a, as the Son of God and the Son of Man, but his, his, his coming as the Word made flesh. Okay, so you gotta have Jesus, but you also have gotta have the Holy Spirit.

Without the Holy Spirit, you can't comprehend the Word of God. You can't know these things. You can't even see these things. They're not.

The natural man hath not understood the things of the Spirit.

The natural man doesn't receive these things, doesn't accept them. They seem like magical things. They seem like Narnia or Lord of the Rings or something like that. They seem like a made up story.

But when you start tying them off, and that's what we're doing, we're tying the book of the Revelation off to the rest of scripture so that in our minds we kind of see and understand that God's Word is a beautiful blueprint.

It's a intricate garment that every part of it's tied to the rest of it. And it all makes sense in its fullness.

And in its fullness we can understand God because it is the physical bread of life, that is Jesus to us.

And so we know that the Holy Spirit makes those things known to us. And it says,

which are the seven or the sevenfold Spirit of God?

Before the throne, there was a sea of glass, like crystal.

All right,

now, remember,

we talked about waters before, right?

There's two things you can take from this. First of all, when you see sea, you always think the Gentiles, but it's a sea of glass that is solid.

All right?

So what he's saying is, is that as far as the sea and God's plan,

that that is set,

it's done. Okay?

But also, you see that water is a representation of the cleansing of the Holy Spirit. You've got three liquids that are mentioned a whole lot in Scripture, and they're pretty clear pictures of things.

You've got wine, which is picture of goodness of God. You've got oil, which is picture of the resonant power of God. And then you've got water, which is of the cleansing power of the Holy Spirit.

And when I said God, I needed to use Holy Spirit there.

The goodness of the Holy Spirit,

which is God. The goodness,

the resident power of the Holy Spirit, and then the cleansing of the Holy Spirit. Well, if you'll notice, the sea now, or the water is what?

It's solid. It's glass. Why?

Yeah,

it's translucent. You can see through it. Why is it glass? Well, because God's people don't need to be cleansed anymore.

They're perfect, they're pure. They're holy before Him.

There's no longer a need to wash us anymore.

We're perfect before Him. We're in the right place before Him.

So you've got the power of God, and then you've got the cleansing of God. And it says, and in the midst of the throne and around the throne,

here they are,

were four living creatures full of eyes in the front and in the back.

All right? So these are creatures that have,

in a sense, they have omniscience, but they don't have omniscience in the full sense because they don't understand God in His fullness. Now, let me deal with this on two different levels, all right?

These four living creatures are going to be called cherubs. And so we've got angels. Does that make sense? Maybe I need to deal with on three different levels, okay? First of all, angels are an army,

okay? And there are nine ranks of angels. And if you ask me to name them all right now, I don't have a list, and I couldn't name them all. But there's cherubs and seraphs and arch.

And normally I can name more than three,

but there's a bunch of them. Okay?

All right?

And there are ranks of angels and powers and principalities and rulers. I got six, okay? And those titles are ranks of angels, meaning that's where there's three archangels.

We don't know how many cherubs. We know that the angelic host is 10,000 times 10,000.

And when you say, well, we know how to count that. Well, we do now that we have calculators and things like that. But to them, that meant more than anyone could count,

okay? To them, that meant if you had 10,000 times 10,000, what he's saying is that's more than anybody would ever have any imagination that there ever would be. 100 million.

And you go, well, the hundred million is not a big number. Now, back then, 100 million would have been all the people that lived on the Earth,

okay? It had been all the people that were alive.

If you told people back during this time where John was writing this revelation that there'd be a war and that war would take place all around the world,

and over 100 million people would die in. In that war, World War II, they would have said, well, that's everybody.

Everybody's dead. We're all dead. Okay? So the angelic host is an army of angels,

okay?

And they were created as a part of. And I'm going to use something here to kind of explain it to you. They were created as a part of the initial creation.

Well, you go, well, Pastor, what do you mean by the initial creation?

Well,

the Bible says that God created the heavens and the earth out of nothing.

Okay?

All right?

Which means he being the author of the law of matter,

meaning the conservation of matter, meaning matter can't be made or destroyed. He created the matter that became a part of that law, and he put that law into effect.

All right?

Now, when God created the whole universe by creating all the matter of the universe.

Are you with me?

When he made the universe that way and created the universe with all that matter,

he did it just by saying it,

okay?

Because it says in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the word created means to make out of nothing,

okay? To create out of nothing.

All right?

So in the end, it's really not even beginning. It doesn't have that. That the. In front of it. It actually is best translated in beginning,

which means at start,

okay? At the start,

God created the heavens and the earth.

Now, Verse two says that the heavens and the earth became formless and void,

okay? Which means I talked about during the study we had on Saturday morning about finance and things like that, I used the word chaotic or chaos,

okay? And what that means is the world moved from how God made it and became chaotic,

okay?

The word translated. It became. It became formless and void,

okay? It became.

It became the law of entropy, meaning everything tends toward chaos,

all right? So understanding that that's what took place when God created the universe, that it became that way. And then you find out in Isaiah, it says that God did not make the universe, did not create everything formless and void.

So that means that there was an actor who acted on the creation and made it formless and void, okay?

Now we understand throughout, and I could take you through a long Bible study tonight, but we understand that the actor that made God's creation,

which would have to be a part of God's creation,

the actor that made God's creation formless and void or chaotic was Lucifer,

okay? Lucifer wanted to be as God is,

and so he rebelled against God wanting to be as God.

All right?

When that happened, you went from God's will to God's will and Lucifer's will or God and not God, right?

All right?

So once you know that that's what happened,

you realize that a created being was given power and authority to cause God's creation to become chaotic,

all right? And you go, well, I don't know if I like that. I don't know if I like that at all, Pastor. Well, I'm gonna tell you, there was another creature that God gave power and control over his universe, okay?

And that creature was man. And Hebrews tells us that through one man's man, not woman, by the way,

if y' all notice that, right? And the Bible says that through one man, sin entered the world that bit through Adam, and then there was another man in which got it right, and that's Jesus.

Okay? So Hebrews goes through a whole dissertation about how sin and chaos,

death entered the world through one man,

all right?

That man's a created being,

Satan's a created being.

The law of entropy, which we see in the universe, which is everything tends toward chaos.

In fact, everything tends toward total disorder.

Did y' all know that?

That's one of the ways we study the universes, based off of that understanding. In fact,

scientists who don't believe in God believe eventually the universe will end up in a low energy state, meaning all the matter of the universe will separate out and it will Just be evenly spaced throughout space and time and there'll be a low amount of energy and nothing will exist.

It will be complete chaos.

Boy, that's a hope to believe in, isn't it? That's a life to really sell. Sell? You sell your life for I am giving all that I have so that one day everything can be nothing.

By the way, that's a great faith in the world today. I would say it's one of the, one of the four or five greatest faiths in the world that is the unbelief of humanity.

Okay. Or the unbelief in God.

All right.

It's nihilism. Very good. It's nihilism.

And so understanding that you realize that these creatures that were made were a part of the original creation. They're the angelic host.

And being a part of the original creation, they represent an aspect of the creation and an aspect of God.

Makes sense if you're a picture, if you're a representation, if you're a co heir with Christ and you that all the universe can see aspects of God in you that they can't see anything else.

I want you to hear me. The angels are the same way,

right?

The heavens. And the heavens declare his glory. We know that God's creation reveals to us understanding about God as you go today, I pray that the Lord will.

Bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
