This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.
Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.
I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.
I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up.
His word to you and allow you.
To see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.
Revelation, chapter 6, verse 3.
We see the second horse, the second rider of the Apocalypse. And it says, and when he opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, come and see. Notice the beast around the throne, the four angels that guard the throne of God.
So you need to get this. This is not something that happens outside of God's will and God plan. This is God's plan. This is the plan of God to bring about the end of the earth.
He's not. He's not sitting on the throne, acting and reacting to the things that are going on on the earth.
He is totally in control. And so the beasts that guard his throne,
the cherubs that are around the throne, and we've already discussed them in prior Bible studies,
but they are the ones who call John over to look, they're really kind of pointing it out to him. They're saying, hey, look at this, watch this. And John's right there.
He's right there to see it.
And they want him to realize that God is the one who is preparing the earth for his judgment. It's not the earth that is in charge. God's in charge. And, you know, the sovereignty of God is really, really important understanding to have when we're studying through scripture.
God is sovereign over things. He is. He is in charge, and he is boldly and powerfully in charge. It's not something that can be hidden. It's not something that you take away.
God is running this.
This thing. And. And I love when I'm studying these things, as you know, you see one thing happen and then you see it happen again and again and again. God's saying, look, look, look, look, look.
He's telling you to look and to see what's happening. And. And it's quite clear that what is taking place as far as these seals is God's preparation for the earth.
For. For these seals, it Says he said, come and see. And there went another horse and it was red.
And the power was given to him who sat thereon to take peace from the earth and that they should kill one another. And there was given unto him a great sword.
All right, now this horse is almost an antagonist. It seems to me he's almost opposite of the white horse. You've got the red horse and the white horse and they seem to operate totally different in the preparation of the earth.
And to tell you the truth, I believe that. And you know,
you can take modern day symbolism and tie it off to biblical symbolism. Sometimes that has a lot of problems with it. Sometimes that be something that maybe you would not want to do.
Maybe it'd be something you say to yourself, you know, I probably wouldn't want to do that because it doesn't work all the time. Okay? Some of our modern day pictures do not fit in the biblical illustrations.
The Bible is tied to itself and the illustrations and symbolism, Bible tie off to other symbolism throughout Scripture so that there's a constant thread going through scripture so that when you see a symbol that's common in the Bible,
you can tie it off to the things that's happened in the past and you can take it pretty strongly that it's pointing you in that direction in the passage that you're in.
And so even though we would tie it off if you tied it off to modern times,
and remember, I've already said I do not know when Jesus is coming back. And so we're not going to make a claim that, you know, this is, this is right.
We're all right on the precipice of this taking place. We may be, we may be within days and hours of it, but, but I do not know that. And it is very dangerous thing because no man knows the day or the hour.
We don't know. We know the times and the seasons, but the times and the seasons may last hundreds of years. Okay, so those seven church ages last a long time.
They last hundreds of years. And so some of them last five, 600 years.
And so the age that we may be in may be the right age. We may be in the last time, we may be in the end times, but the end times may take 300 years.
And so we don't know for sure.
But red has historically been tied to Communism, has been tied to, and let me use the phrase red rightly Marxism and Marxism's very, very,
is a, has been a very, very important political and more importantly an economic idea that's been being propagated in the world by Karl Marx, who was a writer at the turning of last century, between the 1800s and 1900s.
He, he had his writings and his ideas that he proffered as far as a society that would be better than the ones he lived in. And his ideas were in opposition to what we would call capitalism, what we would call democracy.
He was anti democratic, he was anti capitalist, and more importantly, maybe most importantly, he was anti God.
And his ideas he wrote down. And there were many versions of it that went out. And there are three versions of Marxism that you, you need to understand and know.
My degree is in economics from Princeton, and so I've studied,
obviously, economics. I'm not going to tell you that I'm a great economist because I'm not not going to tell you that I was great at Princeton because I was.
But some of these things are just kind of obvious and some, some of these things are things that you can kind of just know by, by watching and looking at them.
And, and Marxism brought about what we know.
We know the levels or I guess the spectrum of Marxism has really kind of three points to it. You've got communism, and communism is the state ownership and control of all the means of production.
And it is a very polarized economy, meaning the government runs and owns all of the property and all of the economic production in the society.
It is godless and it is authoritarian.
Whoever's in charge, whether it be a party, a group of people, or a single individual, whoever's in charge is the authority in those places. Now, we've seen that take its form.
We've seen it fully come to life after World War or really, really right during the middle of World War I,
where the communist Party took control of Russia and Russia became a communist nation.
And Vladimir Lenin was the leader at that time.
And then he passed away. And eventually Joseph Stalin took over. And Joseph Stalin was the communist leader during World War II, and then he passed away. And we've had many, many leaders since then.
And even though Russia is supposedly democratic today,
it still has all the trappings of what we would call a Marxist society where. And maybe not fully communist, but very socialist for sure,
where the government or the leader of the nation really has full control of the economics of the nation. He may have oligarchs that,
that run different aspects of the economy of Russia, but the truth is that Russia is a Marxist nation and it is run by those who do not believe in God.
And that's the key. It's godless.
And we know that the second great Marxist nation in the world is China.
And China became Marxist after the Second World War.
And they are a Marxist nation. They are very party oriented,
far more party oriented than even Russia was in its heyday as a Marxist nation.
They are communist and you need to know this. They are godless. They do not believe in God. They do not believe in the existence of God, they do not believe that they are under the authority of the God, they do not trust the God of heaven.
And they are in the business of conquering.
Okay, they're in the business of conquering. The second type of type of economy that comes from Marxism is called socialism. Now socialism has its tentacles in the West. It has its tentacles in democracy.
There's a lot of socialist democracies in Europe and it's very hard and they don't do very well.
They really don't and haven't done very well.
They've really done very poorly as far as their strength on the world stage. Because it's hard to marry freedom and democracy and God and Christianity, which has been the Judeo Christian ethic, which has been the mark of the West.
It's hard to tie that off to Marxism and communism, which is godless and is not based off of the Judeo Christian ethic which, which has been the hallmark of Western culture.
And so you have those two things together. And so when, when you have them mixed up, well, that's just a terrible recipe. And so socialism is, is as badly as communism has failed.
And it has been a complete failure. And by the way,
all three of these communists, communism,
socialism and fascism have been the cause of the greatest bloodshed in world history.
By far the greatest bloodshed in world history. Some estimates even reach to a half a billion to a billion people had died because of the effects of communist and Marxist and,
and fascist nations.
Socialism in the economic terms is the government's ownership and control of the major means of production, meaning they don't own everything,
but they own what matters.
And you go, well, what's really the difference between communism and socialism? And the answer is not very much. It always ends up being authoritarian. It always ends up taking away freedom.
It always ends up attacking faith and Christians and it always ends up rotting out the nation that operates in that democratic socialism. It always ends up rotting them out.
And sure, does it happen a lot slower than communism. Yeah, but cancer is cancer and it'll kill you anyway.
Okay? And so if you're going to allow it to grow,
whether it grows fast or grows slow, it's going to eventually destroy you. And that's what goes on with socialism. The red,
the red of communism is just a little bit less bold in socialism. The same thing. Then the third one is fascism. And by the way,
a lot of times those who are communist or socialist, those who are Marxist in their thinking, want to say that they're not fascist. They don't have any fascism.
Let me say this. Fascism is a form of Marxism. It's no doubt about it. It doesn't have its roots in Western Judeo Christian ethic. It has nothing to do with it.
Fascism is where the government doesn't own the means of production, but the government controls the means of production. And by the way,
in, in some ways our Western culture, especially the United States,
our government has controlled some of the means of production without its ownership.
So, and, and that has not come from what, what you'd call the conservative or Christian side of capitalism. It has come from those who would seek to be Marxist in, in, in our society.
And so you have, you, you have the government having no control over the medical system,
but I mean, no ownership of the medical system, but total control over the medical system,
no ownership of the means of producing energy such as electricity, oil,
gas, all those things. And yet the government having almost full and exclusive control over those things.
That is a picture of fascism. And by the way, it's not something that Christians or,
or what we call American conservatives believe in. We do not believe in fascism. We're not fascist.
Our ideas are that the reason we're called fascists is because those who want to be Marxist and communist, those who want to be those things, they, well, they point to us and they know Hitler was fascist and the Japanese and Mussolini and Italy were fascist.
And they want to say that we're somehow tied to that terrible time during the Second World War. And so we're the fascists. No, the fascist and the communists fought each other and were anti each other, in fact went to war against each other and hated each other because they were different aspects of the same ideology.
We do not come from that ideology.
Our form of government and our ideas on Western culture do not spring forth from Marxism.
And so in no way are we fascist. Fascism is just another brand of Marxism. And by the way,
those who call us fascists in the United States,
oftentimes in their economic ways of doing things and their political ways of doing things,
are really fascist in and of themselves. They want to control it. They don't necessarily come right out and say we want to own it because they know we believe in Freedom.
And we believe in,
in capitalism. And so they don't want to own it, they just want to control it, using the government and using authoritarian power,
which is fascism.
And so if you were inclined to think this was pointing to the first seal being Western democracies, and the second seal being those nations who were given to Marxism and communism and godlessness, and they are godless,
then you would say that these are two pictures. God is preparing the earth for his war. Using these two pictures says that the horse on it was red. And if you drew the modern correlation, that would always be the communist and the fascist.
Because the major color of most of the fascist regimes in the world, Mussolini,
Hitler,
Japan, their primary color was red.
The primary color of Russia is red. The primary color of China is red. The primary color of most communist nations is red. And they are,
their revolutions are called red revolutions.
And so if you were tying them off, you could easily make that tie. They take peace from the earth because they attack,
they actually do war. They are violent. And the,
the Marxists in our country are violent. And we've seen that even in the days that we live in today with efforts to assassinate those who they don't agree with. And so he says, and they should kill one another.
And there was given unto him a great sword, meaning they have great power to kill. And let me say this, Marxism has had a great power to kill.
If you were tying this off to Marxism today, you would say,
boy, this is a picture of the murder and the absolute destruction that has taken place in the world today,
in the world during the last century, during the 20th century,
the 1900s, where Marxism in all three of its forms killed millions and millions and millions of people.
And it's ugly and it's deadly.
As.
You go today, I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you.
That he'll make his face to shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
