This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.

Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.

I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.

I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day,

especially today in Jesus name.

Jesus in the Olivet discourse says these things are going to take place, and he goes into detail about them.

Paul in 2 Thessalonians. Because in 1 Thessalonians, when he said the day of the Lord's coming and then somebody told him it had already happened and they'd missed out,

right? They'd been left behind,

right?

That's a series of books, too, by the way, that are totally based on a wrong premise,

but good books.

Good fun books.

Not biblically correct, but good fun books.

All right?

They, they, they.

As far as, as far as that's concerned, when Paul says, this is how you're going to know, well, you can take that to the bank.

He's telling you, this is what's going to happen.

And so it's not. There's not any ambiguity there. There's not any. There's not any way of reading into it. But when I read. When I read what, what John is writing in the revelation,

well,

in the first chapter, he describes what he saw.

In the second, third chapter, he gets an actual message to the churches. God says, tell the churches these things.

Notice,

we go from vision to prophecy.

Chapter four, back to vision,

okay? He's getting a vision from God. He's getting. He is seeing something in reality that we don't understand.

And so when we come to these, these. These places where we're going to see locusts that seem like horses and sound like thunder and sting like scorpions,

okay?

He's just describing what he saw,

okay? He is. It leaves some room for us to say, okay, what is going on here?

And it also leaves some room for you not to totally understand,

okay?

And you go, well, why is that? Because we, as Christians and human beings, we like to pick dates,

and God strictly forbids that as far as the.

Date of his coming, okay?

In fact, there's a whole cult that was developed off picking Dates,

okay? And they picked a date and said, jesus is coming back. And they all got together and they're ready for him to come back. And he didn't come back.

And so they didn't say, we were wrong. The date. Six months from now. Got together,

didn't come back.

We were wrong. We dropping back and punting. Three years from now, it's coming back. Got together,

didn't work. Seven years later, 12 years later, finally they said, you know what? We're not very good at this. Let's just sell some magazines, okay?

All right?

And they'll tell you that that didn't happen. The problem is we got the actual magazines. We have evidence that they did say that would happen.

Okay?

And so the problem with that. And listen to me, the problem with that is it has its application.

If I come to you and say, thus sayeth the Lord,

and anything I say is wrong,

then you're not to listen to any of it.

If I come to you and say,

I had a vision and this is what I saw and how you interpreted it or how I saw it,

wasn't exactly right. Well, I'm not necessarily wrong about that.

Are you following me?

I'm not necessarily wrong about that. Why? Because I gave you a vision. I told you what I saw.

Now, I'm not telling you that what he saw and what he wrote down was wrong. But we do have.

One of the gifts of the spirit in modern times is visions and prophecy.

Okay?

Those are gifts that happen even in modern times. And a lot of times, I'll be around somebody and they say, well. Well, this prophet said this. And I listened to the prophet, whatever they say that person said, and they're describing a vision.

And I'm going, well, that's not a prophecy. That's a vision.

Okay, and why is that important?

Well.

Cause their vision, the way they saw it, wasn't exactly right.

Might have been really close, might have been really good, but wasn't exactly right. Is it okay that they described something as best they could and it didn't come out exactly right?

Yeah,

but if you stand up and say, God told me this,

I am telling you this,

then you better be on the money 100%.

Does that make sense to you?

All right, so when we get to this prophecy, this is a. When we get to this vision that Daniel has,

which we call prophecy because it's under the nucleus of prophecy, but it is a vision. He is going to describe some things that we don't really know what it is.

Okay?

And you can make all Kind. Now, listen to me. You can make all kinds of jumps from it.

You can jump off of it in many, many places. One of the things that I think is cool about these locusts who sting like scorpions is the description of how their wings sound.

And the way it describes them would make me think about helicopters.

Okay?

Now, I'm not saying they're helicopters, but I'm just saying that it sounds like a helicopter.

Okay?

All right.

Now, does that mean that the locust are helicopters? No, but they could be.

Okay?

And if you were really into helicopters, Dean, and you read that, you would say, most definitely they're helicopters.

Okay?

That's for sure. No doubt about it. I'm reading it right here. It's helicopters. God foretold us about helicopters.

Okay?

Would Dean be wrong?

No, not necessarily. I wouldn't sell a book about it. And the problem is, a lot of people sells book. Sells. Sell books about visions.

And they say this is definitively what it is. And it might not be.

It might not be.

So when we get to Revelation, chapter nine, remember, there was an angel in chapter eight who prepared us for the last three trumpets.

And what did he say?

He said three words,

woe.

Woe?

Woe. That means bad,

and it's bad three times over.

What he's saying is, this ain't going good.

This is going to be real bad.

He says here.

Then the fifth angel sounded,

and I saw a star fall from heaven to the earth. Now, if you'll remember, two of the first four prophecies had a comet or a star and a mountain fall to the earth.

Now we're having another star fall to the earth.

Remember, I told you that there's a likelihood that that wasn't a mountain. It's a spiritual thing. Now,

let's get into this because it's important.

It's easy for us as believers to move into the spiritual realm and just talk about spiritual things and how heaven is okay?

It's easy as believers for us to talk about physical things and how hard it is to be a believer on the earth.

It is super hard to deal with the physical and the spiritual together.

In fact, it's so hard that one of the original heresies is called Gnosticism.

And Gnosticism is the idea that the spiritual and the physical have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Jesus was a spiritual being.

He provided for a spiritual redemption. And your redemption based on him is a spiritual thing. And it doesn't really matter what you do in the flesh.

Okay?

It was called a heresy. It is A heresy. There's a book in the New Testament written to fight that heresy, okay? It's called Gnosticism.

All right?

Why?

Because the spiritual and the physical are united in one place and one place in its fullness.

Where's that?

You Christ, too. Christ being the prime example of it. But you.

You are where the spiritual God and the spiritual Holy Spirit come and dwell in. A physical being who has a spiritual aspect. Because you're born again.

So you have a spirit. The Holy Spirit comes and lives in you, and the Spirit,

the host of those is your flesh,

and they both work to save your heart and your mind, your soul.

So when we're dealing with your flesh and the spiritual, it is hard to deal with,

and it's hard for believers to deal with. And for non believers, that's just foolishness to them.

Okay?

It really is foolishness. Although they do realize that there's something about human beings that is unexplainable. Did y' all know what that is?

Does anybody know what the one thing that there's no way evolutionary.

Through evolution through.

Through any means to describe it other than God.

There is one aspect of a human being that's indescribable.

That by science. Do y' all know what that is?

Your consciousness.

It's not describable by science.

There's no way for them to come up with how that works.

All right?

So you have a consciousness of who you are and how you relate to the world you live in and to the people around you that is not found.

That is not found in anything else.

Abject consciousness of everything around you. An ability to understand.

Ability to actually.

Well, some people have consciousness, but they don't engage it at all.

Okay.

All right.

They don't really know how they fit in the world, and they don't really care.

Okay, all right.

But those of us who do realize it's important.

So when we see these angels come down and. And they begin to do these things. Well,

it's a spiritual thing that's happening here. How do I know that it's a spiritual thing that happening here? Well, it says, the fifth angel said, and I sounded and I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth.

So it came from the spiritual to the physical.

All right?

It says to him was given the key to the bottomless pit. Now we've gone from a inanimate object to.

And I know we're having difficulty lately here in our country with pronouns, but we have a pronoun that's very specific.

Okay, all right.

I Know, we're having pronoun issues,

but they're not really that big a problem. We're just. Some people are making them a problem. Are you following me? It says that him did something,

all right? Which means this star that fell from the heavens to the earth, it either fell from literally the galaxy around us to the physical earth,

or it fell from the spiritual to the physical.

And because it's a hymn,

just saying it's got to be a spiritual being that fell to the physical earth.

What spiritual being do we know that fell to the physical earth?

Lucifer. Satan. Bible says that I looked and I saw.

I saw Lucifer.

And he was cast out of heaven and he fell to the earth.

Okay?

All right.

That is a description of the original fall of Satan.

And it is redescribed here as a fall from. A fall from heaven and Satan falling. All right, Now, I want you to follow me on this because it says.

It says to him was given the key to the bottomless pit.

Now,

oftentimes we believe that God,

that Satan has a power that is in equivalent to God.

Okay?

And if you ask man on the street interview, right? If you go to him and say, who is the opposite of God?

Well, they'll tell you it's the devil,

right?

And I know I've said this to y' all before, but we need to always say it over and over again. I want you to hear me.

What is the opposite of God,

man? Y' all hear that? I'm telling you something. I got some good students. The opposite of God is the absence of God.

Okay?

There is nothing that is equivalent to God except for the absence of himself in the negative.

You following me?

Who is the opposite of Satan?

Well, there's two of them.

Michael and Gabriel.

Satan's an archangel. There's two other ones, Michael and Gabriel.

Satan is the worship archangel.

Gabriel is the messenger archangel.

Michael is the warrior archangel or the royal archangel.

All right?

They all have an aspect of them that points to the Godhead because they were made as it were, in a way to be a reflection of God.

They weren't the perfect reflection of God because God removed them out of that position and placed another being in that position.

That being being able to be a perfect reflection or a perfect likeness of God. Being who?

Jesus. And human beings,

we are able to be the perfect reflection of his likeness.

We have a spirit. God's the Holy Spirit. We have a soul. God the Father is a soul. We have a physical manifestation. Jesus is the physical manifestation of God.

All right?

So we're in his image and in his likeness.

It makes sense, doesn't it?

All right, now understanding that and getting that allows you to understand that when Satan fell,

he was given his power or his authority.

Once Satan rebelled against God, his authority and his power were removed.

Satan has only been given his power and authority by one of two beings.

He was given authority over the earth.

By who?

More particularly? Adam.

God gave Adam authority over the earth.

Adam gave Lucifer his power when he succumbed to his deception.

Okay,

so Satan became the ruler of the power of the air. He became over the earth. How does he rule the earth? Well, he rules with his army of angels. You know, when we have our Christmas.

Our Christmas? Well, it's just a hokey Christmas Story time. The Sunday before Christmas,

our Lake Community Church Family Christmas. The angels are not a heavenly choir.

They're a heavenly host. And host means what?

Armies. That's exactly right. All right, so Satan rules the earth in a military occupation.

Now the problem is, is that Jesus came back, came to the earth, put to death he who had power of death. And he took authority back from it,

from Satan.

And then he gave us our commission, which means we were sent out under his authority.

So everything that God gives you to do and that God gives you sovereignty over, Satan doesn't have any power over it anymore.

All right?

He has no authority over you. You're a separate kingdom than that kingdom.

Makes sense.

So when Lucifer fell the first time,

he searched for a way to get back in control.

He found it through humanity.

The story of the book of the Revelation is Jesus taking back full control over everything.

All right,

in this story,

as a part of the judgment of God,

Satan falls from heaven and somebody gives him the keys to the abyss or to the bottomless pit.

As you go today, I pray that.

The Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and. And that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
