This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.

Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.

I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.

I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day,

especially today in Jesus name.

Remember when the demoniac came out of the caves on the other side of the Lake of Gennesaret? Do y' all know who I'm talking about?

The demoniac, the guy who broke his chains and was crazy man that lived among the tombs.

When they got out, he ran up to Jesus and Jesus asked him what his name was. And they said.

They said, legion, for we are many. And what did they ask him to do?

Because they knew he was fixing to deliver that guy. What did they ask him to do?

Put us in the pigs,

don't send us to the pit.

So you got fallen angels in the pit.

Now you go, where are the fallen? Why aren't the fallen angels in the pit? Well, this is found throughout scripture, and I can take you through it, but I'm not going to spend all night explaining this to you.

But in Genesis, chapter five,

there is a story.

Y' all know it really well,

okay?

The story is that humanity is somehow become intensely corrupted, corrupted beyond what we understand today,

okay?

And God looked for somebody who was perfect in his generation.

Now, if you read that to be perfect, morally perfect spiritually,

then who.

What human being on earth would have been perfect spiritually,

huh?

None.

Nobody.

Because all of them were seed of Adam, right? They came from Adam. They were all.

They were all sinful.

But if you take that perfect in his generation and you don't translate it, generation, which is actually how it shouldn't be translated.

You translate it perfect in his genealogy.

And why would I say perfect in his genealogy? Because just so happens in the chapter before, there's a genealogy from Adam to Noah,

okay? And if he's perfect in his genealogy, that means all his fathers were human.

If you read chapter five, the first six verses, it describes something that happened there.

It says, the sons of God saw the daughters of men,

that they were beautiful, and they took as many as they wanted. As Wives,

basically.

And the Bible says their offspring were men of renown.

They were giants.

Okay,

now listen. That's in Genesis 5.

It's right there.

And then God goes into the wickedness of it. Why? Because you had angels who were spirits coming to physical human women and having babies that were corrupt,

spiritually corrupt, physically corrupt in their soul.

Because Satan was trying to destroy the bloodline of man.

And why was he doing that?

Because in the garden, he had told Eve that her offspring would be struck by the serpent, but she would crush his head.

So the way to destroy the offspring is what?

To corrupt the offspring.

So why did Noah have to build an ark so he'd kill all those people?

Those people were still people.

And in the Old Testament, they're known as unclean spirits.

In the New Testament, they're known as the demonic demons.

They are not fallen angels.

They are the offspring of fallen angels.

They love people. They want to be with people.

They are the source of the. The strongholds that are in your life.

They get passed down from generation to generation.

That's why in Exodus, he says the sins of the father pass to the second third generation.

Then you come all the way over to Deuteronomy. We're actually in Deuteronomy chapter five. And I'm on in Bible study in Deuteronomy chapter five. He doesn't start with it. He comes down to when he's talking about not having any other, not making graven images, and he says the sins of the father passed to the second third generation.

What he's saying is generational strongholds,

demonic strongholds, get passed down from generation to generation.

But they both say,

but the grace of God is to a thousand generations, meaning if you break that stronghold, then the answer to it, the fixing that God does of it, gets passed on from generation to generation also.

Does it matter?

Yeah, it does.

Because understanding Genesis,

understanding the physical world we live in,

understanding the spiritual world that God gives us a glimpse of,

and putting those things together helps you understand what your purpose is and what you're doing here. It also understand. Helps you understand why you're having trouble doing it.

If you don't know that there's fallen angels who can see that you're born again.

Listen,

this is not one of those spy movies. This is not James Bond.

Are you following me?

This is. You can't sneak around with the devil and say, you know, go in undercover. You can't. You. You look like the Holy Spirit to him.

And by the way,

the only reason you'd be sneaking around is so you can indulge your flesh,

right?

The demonic know it,

the angels know it.

It's important for you to know it because there's power in it.

There's power. You have power,

you have authority.

You following me,

and what is that derived from?

Well, it's derived from the aspect of God that is eternal. That's the Holy Spirit.

Am I right?

So, so, so you doing and operating, realizing when you, when you're sitting there watching your favorite news channel and saying, well, God, I just don't even know why they, why would you let this happen?

Well, first of all,

that's denying the omnipresence, the omnipotence, the all powerful nature of God,

his sovereignty.

Second of all,

that's you living in your ignorance, thinking that Satan's not working in the world.

He's been doing it since the start.

And third,

it's all for the purpose of covering my eyes up and not operating in my gifts because none of that has any authority over you.

You know, the devil made me do it.

Well, you know, I got all these demons in my life and let me say, say this, if you invite them in, they can become a problem and they're hard to clean out.

But that's not because they're stronger than you. And what, who, he who lives in you. Because he who lives in you is greater than he is in the world.

But if you invite strongholds and you invite problems, you'll get them because by the way,

they want to cover you up.

Whatever gets released from this pit goes and attacks those who are not redeemed.

How do they know?

Because there's a seal on those who are redeemed.

There's a mantle. You are. Do you not know you are sealed with the Holy Spirit?

Do you not know you're bought at a price?

So understanding that that's going on around you in reality helps you have good perspective on life and how to live it.

Not understanding it makes you ignorant and messes up everything.

And the first thing churches do when they head toward denying the word of God,

I want you to hear me,

the first thing is not where they come up with, well, we gonna get rid of this part of the Bible or not?

The first thing they begin to do is. They don't do that. That's too open and obvious.

Are you listening to me?

The first thing they do is they deny the sovereignty of God in subtle ways.

And then they in subtle ways grieve and deny the Holy Spirit's function in the world.

And they cover it up by Saying, well, my Jesus,

My Jesus is this way.

My Jesus would have never told those Pharisees that they were whitewashed tombs. He wasn't ugly like that.

Are you following me? Remember,

you're Jesus when it's made in your image is just you faking,

acting like you're Jesus. You ain't Jesus.

God's sovereign,

his word is true. And the Holy Spirit is in control of things on this earth under that power and authority.

And if you play games with it,

you will slowly fall down that slippery slope to saying, well, I don't know about this.

Really.

I don't want to be too offensive.

And look, you don't have to be offensive.

The word of God is offensive for you.

It's an offense to those who are perishing.

Sorry,

I don't have to be ugly about it.

All I got to do is say,

thus saith the Lord.

This is what the Bible says.

Take it, leave it, don't care.

That's truth.

That's spiritual, eternal truth.

That's all that counts.

So you think about that slippery slope that churches go down. How do churches get to where they are today?

That's how.

God's not completely in control.

He needs our help.

Okay,

The Holy Spirit.

Let's not spiritualize this stuff too much.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard that,

Chad, you are spiritualizing this too much. And I'm sitting there going,

if too much is all,

then yes, I am. Because the spiritual is in control of all. So if I'm spiritualizing everything it and you think that's too much, then yes, I am.

What came first,

the physical or the spiritual?

The spiritual. What will be at the last?

The Bible says he rolls up heaven and hell and all that he made and burns it up and makes a new one.

So it starts out not existing and it ends not existing.

So the physical is not reality.

The physical is a reflection of the reality. It's a way for God to reveal himself to his creation.

So we must be spiritual.

We must think with spiritual minds.

If you don't,

you will.

Because who reveals the word of God to you?

The natural man hath not understood the things of spirit,

nor does he discern those things.

It is only the Spirit that reveals God.

So anybody who tells you, well, I just like to stick to the text.

Let's not get too much in the spiritual.

I've heard that from people in this town.

And I'm going,

oh, the ignorance. But not only that,

oh, no for you.

Because exactly how are you interpreting that? Passage. If you're not using the Holy Spirit, are you using your lost soul?

Are you losing your depraved? Are you using your depraved mind? Or what about your wicked flesh? Is that what you're using? Or are you using the Holy Spirit?

Because if you ain't using the Holy Spirit, it is not from God.

Have I beat. Have I beat that horse to death?

It's scary.

I've had people forward me stuff.

We just need to take the text as it is and try to figure it out.

Quit trying to add the Holy Spirit to it.

I'm going,

wow.

How you going to do it?

Am I right?

You. We all. I'm gonna say it again because you need to hear it. What, you gonna use your wicked mind,

your wicked heart,

or your utterly wicked flesh to interpret it? Exactly. How you gonna have it revealed to you?

Who gonna reveal it to you?

Oh, Jesus will.

No, he won't. He said he needed to go.

In fact, he's sitting at the right hand of the Father. It is Jesus, but he ain't revealing it to you because he said the counselor's got to come to reveal it to you.

Pastor, why did you beat this horse to death?

Because he said those that are marked don't get stung.

Now,

none of us are going to be there,

in my opinion,

right?

But there's other demons out there and they are stinging you.

They may not be as neat as these. They may not have helicopter wings,

but they biting you all the time.

You need to realize it.

The forces of darkness do exist and they are in control. And you should not ever do anything to glorify them.

And I don't play games with it either,

because I've talked to them before.

Not many.

Not many times,

but I have spoken to them and they are real and they do understand authority and they do know who's in control.

They just trying to keep you from knowing who's in control.

Are you with me?

They don't come talk to me all the time. Okay, don't get into that. There's a couple of specific instances where I kind of moved into their realm and they moved into mine, and they that.

But it happens,

by the way, if you're a missionary in other parts of the world, it happens to them all the time.

You know,

you go, well, why is it different there than here?

Because we all think here in the Western world,

we all think that we're really smart and we figured it all out and we have deceived ourselves so much to thinking that we've Got it all figured out. And we know how to read scripture without spiritualizing it too much.

And we are walking blind and ignorant. And let me tell you something, something.

If Satan can choose blind, ignorant Christians that don't really know who they are and never really act like they're supposed to act or revealing the spiritual to them and causing them to have to actually deal with it,

he'd like to keep us ignorant and stupid,

huh?

Let's worship us today.

If you'll worship you, Satan will be fine with it. If you'll not deal with him at all. You don't want to really know know the deep things of God. You don't want to walk in them.

You don't want to operate in the gifts of the Spirit. You don't want to do the things. And I'm not just talking about the miracle gifts, okay? For those of you on Facebook,

I'm talking about love.

I'm talking about faithfulness.

I'm talking about encouragement.

I'm talking about teaching. I'm talking about all of them, all of them, all the gifts of the Spirit.

If you'll just not do that, listen to me,

it'll be great for you. You won't ever have to deal with anything spiritual. You ain't gonna have any treasure in heaven, by the way. You're never really gonna know what it is to walk with God.

You're gonna miss out on everything God planned for you. But let me tell you something. As far as the devil's concerned, you're going to be good.

That's called surrender.

And just barely get in.

And there are Christians who do that every day.

Every day.

Let me just surrender,

Satan. You leave me alone, I'll leave you alone.

I just won't do what Jesus says don't do the Holy Spirit leads me to do.

I just got to get through this.

And that is an anathema to scripture and it's an anathema to the kingdom of God.

Sorry.

Have y' all ever noticed the most fired up Christians you run into are the people that came to Christ when they were 30 and 40 years old.

Have y' all ever noticed that?

Because they lived like hell for 30 years and they got delivered.

They don't want to go back to that.

Sitting there going, I'm not going back to that.

Christians think that like me. I was born again when I was 8 years old, born again whenever, but converted when I was 8 years old.

I don't really know what it is not to be a Christian that makes me real susceptible to deception.

It does.

If I don't listen to the Holy Spirit, follow the Holy Spirit, walk by the Holy Spirit. I can begin to think I'm better than I am.

Running into a 40 year old gets born again. They know they ain't better than they are.

Am I right?

They have a healthy view of life with God and without God.

It's the way it is.

I'm sure it's 8:30 by now.

8:30, huh? 7:10. Oh, listen, I didn't go long at all.

I mean, I had to put the last finishing touches on the horse, right?

Keep him, get him dead. He's dead.

Beat him to death.

Those demons are real.

They are those fallen angels, they're real. The devil's real.

But by the way,

Gabriel, Michael, real too.

All those angels we see in heaven, real.

Myriad upon myriad,

thousands upon thousands. They're all real too.

All this stuff is real. It's reality.

Everything else just a manifestation of the spiritual.

Think about that when you go to sleep tonight. I'm going to sleep like a baby.

As you go today, I pray that.

The Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
