Hope Alive: Applying God’s Word to Your Daily Life

The Revelation 11:5-7

I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Alive, applying God's word to your daily life.

Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.

I'm also a practicing attorney.

This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.

I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up.

His word to you and allow you.

To see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.

Now,

this is what makes it.

This is what makes it makes these two people objects of the interest of the world.

Are you following me? This is what makes them the.

The headlines on all the nightly news networks, okay? Or the headlines of. Of, of.

Of your Instagram or Facebook face chat or,

you know, something like that. Whatever you're on.

Insta chat. I don't know. Whatever you're on.

All right,

Tick tock. Y' all know what I'm talking about? All right? This is why they're going to be there. They're going to be on there regularly. Why?

Well,

if anyone wants to harm them, mean to meaning shut them up. Because, you know, they're not speaking.

You know, they're. They're. They're speaking false information,

okay? Or misinformation as our modern media likes to call it.

These two witnesses are speaking misinformation,

okay?

Everybody that says that and wants to harm them,

fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies,

like, no matter where they're at. That's exactly right.

Throughout the world,

you know,

old boys on cnn. I think we ought to arrest them.

You following me?

All right,

and, and,

you know, some of y' all going. It might be worth staying for that, you know, but it's not. It's not. Don't think that.

Don't think that at all, okay? It's not really worth you staying, sticking around for that.

But that's going to be something that is. Even though all these people are killed and all these disasters are happening,

it's going to be something that is going to be watched,

which means in the midst of them being watched,

their revelations are going to be told,

okay?

They're not going to be able to be. Shut up.

You following me?

So it says these have power.

No,

he says if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this matter. Notice must be the Very legal terms that are used here. Shout,

must. All those terms means it's going to happen,

can't be stopped.

All right?

This is a.

A condemnation by God. It is. It is God's wrath and judgment. This is a judgment by him, and the earth is going to endure it also.

Okay?

These, these have the power to shut heaven so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy. And they have the power over water to turn them to blood and to strike the earth with plagues as often as they desire.

All right?

Which means over the three and a half years that they're prophesied, they're doing a whole lot of, you know, fire from heaven,

okay?

They're doing a whole lot of water to blood.

They're doing a whole lot of shutting the heavens up so that there's no rain.

And they're doing a whole lot of,

you know, just think Egyptian plague type stuff. All right? Now that brings us to why we think. What. What are the common thoughts that are out there as to the identity of these people?

And I've told you that there's three main candidates in the Old Testament for the position.

Okay? And then there's that outlier that.

Well, it's the outlier that nobody likes because we can't tell who it is. Okay? It's no fun.

Okay? It's just really no fun. The outlier, which very well could be, is we don't know who they are,

okay? The outlier is they could be two people that are born, that are born for this job,

all right? They could be two Christians that are alive today that will be doing this in 50 years or 30 years or 20 years.

We don't know that. All right, the other three candidates are in order of likelihood,

Enoch being third.

Okay, why Enoch? Well, he walked with God and then he was no more, for he pleased God. Okay? He was a man of faith.

All right? And that's found in Genesis, chapter four. It is. He is the.

I think he's the great grandfather of Noah.

All right,

all right, so he is. He. He. He didn't die.

He didn't die.

So there would be a reason for him to be there because these die.

All right?

The second candidate, in my opinion of most likelihood is Moses.

Okay?

He's at the transfiguration.

If you see the judgments that are handed out,

they point to Moses and, and the judgments which he was involved in. Am I right?

All right, the number one candidate is Elijah.

All right? And why Elijah? Well, he's got both of them.

You know, he shut the heavens.

He called down fire from heaven.

He didn't die.

Okay,

we get Swing Low, Sweet Chariot from his story, right?

Chariot came and got him,

so he didn't die. So he's got the best of Enoch and the best of Moses. If it's somebody in Scripture of the Old Testament, it's one of the Old Testament figures,

almost assuredly. If it's going to be somebody, it's going to be Elijah.

Makes sense. And then you can go with Moses, Enoch. And if you want to throw in some. I mean, if you want to do like a Mount Rushmore of possibilities, you know, you can pick somebody else.

I mean, King David, Abraham. I mean, you got other folks out there, right?

That's for jokes and, you know, okay, top five list, you know, 10 list,

you know,

you go. Pastor, why are you bringing this up? Well, if you read books about this chapter, that's all they talk about is who the witnesses are,

okay?

There's two of them, and they're olive trees and lampstands, okay? And they do some pretty neat stuff. All right?

It says when they finish their testimony.

Which means what?

When it's over, when they've said all that God wants them to say.

By the way, this is true for you, too, okay? It's just going to be more,

I guess, more exciting, more thrilling to read about them.

But when you're done doing all that God has for you,

you're going to move on, too, okay?

All right?

When they're finished with their testimony.

Now, notice this. Now, this is kind of what makes it Lord of the Rings style,

okay?

I mean, this is straight up.

This is straight up Gandor and the Troll from the deeps. I can't remember what he's called.

I see him. Thank you. Thank you, Ken. Kenneth, I know you. Give me the answer. All right?

Do y' all know how many of y'.

All.

When I say Gant. When I say Gandalf and Bellrock, know what I'm talking about, raise your hand.

All right? I'm praying for the rest of you that God will give you a chance to watch Lord of the Rings. All right?

Now follow this. Watch, listen. Watch what happens. It says.

It says when they finish their testimony, the ab. The Beast descends out of the bottomless pit.

I mean, that's Bell Rock,

right? Except this is Satan.

All right?

Out of the bottom split, he makes war against them.

And that's the word literally for war.

So he doesn't just come out and kill them.

There's a fight,

you know, you shall not pass.

You know what I'm talking about. I mean, a real fight, you know, he's light and,

I mean,

it's good stuff right here, right?

I mean, this is exciting.

He says,

and he overcomes. And this is the word. This is a. This is a derivative of the word Nike,

which is victory.

He's victorious over them, and he kills them.

You know, and that's a question for Lord of the Rings. Did. Did Dan Dorf died?

What happened there? You know, now it's not a big deal, all right? He says,

as you go today, I pray that the Lord will bless you.

And keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today. In Jesus name.
