Hope Alive: Applying God’s Word to Your Daily Life

The Revelation 11:10-1

I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Alive, Applying God's word to your daily life.

And those who dwell on the earth.

Now, now, listen. This is how we know.

Everybody knows.

Those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them.

Now, listen to me.

Why do you think?

Do they have a reason to rejoice?

Half the people of the Earth are dead.

They've been through some pretty horrific stuff.

Am I right?

They've been through some pretty terrible stuff.

Why are they rejoicing?

Because as the book of the Revelation is being played out,

they're the commentators about it.

They're the ones who are telling the story.

They're the ones who are marking the days.

They're the ones who are revealing what God's doing. As things happen,

they are prophesying.

They're telling. This is a fulfillment of the book we're reading.

Now you go, well, then when they're dead, nobody knows what's going on. Let's go back to originally, long time ago,

when we all promised we'd come to every Bible study. Do y' all remember that?

All right,

and you said, I promised, Pastor, but you didn't tell me it's gonna take four and a half years. I mean,

the Tribulation only took three and a half. All right,

if you'll remember,

as we go through these prophecies,

a lot of times you want to say it's a chronological order and this and this and this and this,

but it's not quite that.

Okay, it is in chronological order,

but the events overlap.

Does that make sense?

Some of the things that are happening are happening simultaneously. When you're reading this, some of the things are. They're overlapping.

All right, this story of these witnesses is a major story in the book of the Revelation. And it's overlapping,

meaning it's covering the Great Tribulation. It's covering the three and a half years at the end when they die. When this happens at the end,

it's coming quite literally at the end of the Tribulation.

Okay?

So this little vignette, I call it a commercial of God. And it is a commercial of God because God is telling the world, I'm doing this,

okay?

This commercial of God is going on while all this other stuff's going on,

while all the things that are happening, you know,

in the first part,

it's going on right now.

All right? And we're going to go into more. And this is going to overlap those things, too.

Okay,

so what do they do?

They rejoice over them.

They make merry.

I don't know why we always do that to Mary. Do you? I don't either.

It's just. I mean, it's terrible. Why don't we. Why don't we call it making merry? I don't know.

They make merry and they send gifts to one another.

Sounds like another holiday. I know. Making merry and sending gifts to one another.

Happy holidays.

And they send gifts to one another because these two prophets storm tormented those who dwell on the earth.

Notice this is not an isolated thing.

When I say they're, you know, they're talking on one of the networks and,

you know, the fire comes down.

That's. That'd make you a little afraid right now. After the three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered them. That is resurrection,

okay?

That is the resurrection. That is taking that which is dead and making it alive.

All right. It's very. Another great book.

The lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, okay? And you go. Why are you keep bringing this up? Because we're in the commercial at the middle of the book, okay? All right.

The lion of the Witch and the Wardrobe. Remember, Aslan is a picture of Jesus,

right? And the witch turns all of the people that are good into stone. Do y' all remember that? And stone's a picture of a hard heart,

okay?

Unwilling to hear what God has to say.

And when Aslan is resurrected.

All right, I gotta ask this. How many of y' all have watched the lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,

Chronicles of Narnia? All you gotta do is watch the lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. If you hadn't watched that,

I mean, I don't know if you're redeemed or not. I really don't. I just can't tell you.

I won't. I can't promise it.

Herb, we got to get you Netflix or something, okay? We got. You got to see,

Herb, you'll cry when. You'll cry when Aslam's. Aslan's resurrected. I mean, it's a picture of Jesus. It's beautiful. It's beautiful for children and grown men,

okay?

All right.

And what does he do to make them change back to human flesh or flesh?

He breathes on them.

Same thing that was done in the garden at the beginning.

Same thing that's done in the upper room.

He breathes on them.

He breathes on them. Ruha,

the Spirit of Life,

okay?

Which is a picture of the work of the Holy Spirit,

okay?

And it says, the breath of life from God entered them, meaning the Holy Spirit entered them.

And they stood on their feet and great. Well, the party's over.

All right,

this says, and great fear fell on those who saw them. That means the holiday season ended abruptly, okay, Three and a half days later.

And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them,

come up here.

Which, by the way,

hearkens back to chapter four, the beginning of chapter four, right?

When he tells John to come up,

he tells these to come up,

okay?

Also kind of is an illusion toward Elijah being taken up and perhaps Enoch.

All right?

And they ascended to heaven in a cloud.

And their enemy saw them.

Notice it keeps pounding that point.

Have y' all noticed that?

It keeps pounding that point.

And their enemy saw them.

It says in the same. Same hour there was a great earthquake and a tenth of the city fell. Meaning Jerusalem is going to have 10th. A 10th of the city collapse.

All right?

And it says in the earthquake, 7,000 people were killed and the rest were afraid and gave glory to God and gave glory to the God of heaven.

So remember, judgment does bring about revelation.

It can bring about revelation.

You go, Pastor, are we going to finish the chapter? No, we got a whole nother section that's going to be real good. And I really got to. I really got to handle that.

I want to spend some time handling that.

But those are the two witnesses.

And really a powerful, important passage in scripture. It gives us a lot of illusions. What I love about it is it takes you all throughout the Scriptures and it kind of pulls a lot of things together.

It lets us see God's divine plan is not one that's separated and different, that God has been working his divine plan the whole time,

and it is just a hair bit fun.

Am I right? I mean, when you got Satan, not Bell Rock, when you got Satan coming out of the pit and a war.

I mean, if you think about it, what a we talking about, like a spiritual battle out there between those two and Satan and Satan overcomes and kills him.

I mean,

a lot of kind of fun stuff to talk about.

And the cool thing is, is we're not there,

okay? Or it's my.

It's my opinion that we're not there.

All as you go today, I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peac
