The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.
Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.
I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.
I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day,
especially today,
in Jesus name.
All right, so it says, so the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, called the devil diablo, and called Satan the deceiver who deceives the whole world.
He was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
All right, now this is important because Satan is called.
This is why I say that there is more to the story than just when humans were here.
Because Satan is described in this passage as a deceiver. Of who?
Everything.
He is. He is. He is cast in the imagery of the book of the Revelation as one who deceives everything.
He deceives all things.
He is the deceiver of the whole world.
We know that he's called the accuser of the brethren, and we're going to deal with that a little bit.
Okay.
But he is deceiving the whole world.
So it's not hard for you to be deceived.
It's not hard for you to be easily drug away from God's work and God's plan.
He's actively out there deceiving you. All right, so how do I counter that?
Do I call on Gabriel, who's already whooped him once, and say,
gabriel, come down and whoop him again? Do it. You ever heard anybody pray that?
Huh?
Not Mike. Well, I think Gabriel could whoop him, too, but Michael. Okay, Michael. I mean, how many of y' all have done that?
Anybody ever heard anybody pray that,
that Michael would come and take care of Satan again for us?
No. Why. Why don't. Why don't we do that? Well, because.
Because even though Satan is a major part of God's revealing of himself in his creation,
he's not a focus for us.
He's not a focal point for who we are.
Okay,
so is. Is it appropriate to,
you know, deal with that subject matter in a prayer, in church, in. In a. Yeah.
Is it appropriate to spend a whole lot of Time on it?
No,
I don't think so.
And I think it is important to understand what's going on insofar as Scripture gives us knowledge about it.
But, boy, don't we have a lot of churches and a lot of revivals and things like that to get all focused on Satan,
that is glorifying Satan,
okay? And we really need to be very, very careful about that. You need to know your adversary.
But we don't want to glorify our adversary.
He says.
He says he deceives the whole world,
which means he's. He's lying about everything.
He's. He's easily. He's.
And by the way, he's smarter than you. And he. And by the way, he knows everything that is to be known about what has happened since he's been made.
Now, that does not mean that he knows what everything.
He just knows everything that he could know about what's happened since he was made and they overcame him.
Notice he accuses them.
It says, then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven now, salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ have come.
This is definitely the church age.
It could be referring sometime during the tribulation.
But. But that description is ever since Jesus created the church, right?
Since the church began,
salvation and strength in the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ has come for the accuser of our brethren who accuses them before our God day and night has been cast down.
All right,
so. So who accuses you?
Satan.
Satan. And then once Satan has accused you enough, you know who Benz begins to accuse you?
You do.
You begin to accuse you.
You get deceived.
Just because I'm accused doesn't mean I'm guilty. Remember, salvation has come to the his kingdom, right?
His grace has come to his kingdom. In fact, it says now. Now. He says now salvation and strength and the kingdom of the king and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ has come for the accuser of our brethren.
His kingdom, his power has come for us.
We're. It's. It's for you.
You know, so many times we.
So many times we. When we're operating,
when we're operating in our. In our. In our bodies,
we don't realize. We don't realize that.
That God is. Is given us authority and power.
That authority and power is not to worry about what you have authority over. It's what you have authority to do to become,
to be okay.
He accuses you for what purpose?
To what end?
Why. Why what to. What value does it have for him to accuse you?
Does God hear his accusations?
He said, well, I ain't heard that before,
right? Didn't know that about him.
Satan, are you sure about that?
Is that what really happened?
Is that what God's doing in heaven?
No,
the accusations are for the purpose of limiting your power in the kingdom,
who you're not,
what you didn't do, how you didn't live, why you didn't make this happen over and over and over again.
Shame for you,
pain for you,
questioning for you,
over and over and over and over again until you get to the point where people not sure even to the point of people are not sure what,
that they're even saved,
that they're even part of the kingdom. You see that all the time, right?
There's that person. And you know, y' all grew up in the church.
They were baptized 78 times over the course of 22 years.
I just want to make sure you know what I'm saying?
Make sure I got wet enough last time.
Now, listen to me. There's nothing wrong with being baptized a few times.
Like I've told my. My daughter when she went over to Israel, and she said,
you know, they're talking. Everybody who's going is talking about getting baptized in the Jordan River. And she said, I already been baptized. I don't need to be baptized again. I said, baby, if I were where Jesus got baptized, I'd be baptized too.
You know what I'm talking about? I mean,
so you know, you're gonna be fine.
It's not gonna usurp anything.
You're not going back to the starting point when you get baptized again. You're not going back to zero and working your way up again.
It's not a pyramid scheme, okay? That's not how it works. You don't go back to zero and have to work your way up to the top again.
But.
But those who. Those who. Who.
Who never, ever figure out how to walk in the power,
in the presence,
in the direction of God,
those who never, ever seem to do that,
they're always going back to the starting point.
They're always going back to the starting point.
And at some point in time, you got to mature.
You got to grow up.
You got. You got to stop listening to what's not. And God is clearly explaining to you what's not,
and move forward into what is.
Which takes some.
Yeah,
it takes some. Takes some figuring it out, maturing, growing up.
And so many times we don't do that. We don't we don't, we don't get it figured out.
And so therefore we don't progress.
How many Christians do you know that are not a whole lot better than they were before?
How many Christians do y' all come across that you knew in the past? And they're not a whole lot better, Might even be a little worse.
Is, is that a, is that a work of God? Is that a work of his kingdom?
No, it's not.
You ought to be growing,
you ought to be becoming.
You ought to be more.
And, and, and, and so when we're, when we're dealing with, with, with church, you know, my job as a pastor is to try to disciple you to become more,
to be doing, to be involved in more to be doing more to be a part of, more to be experiencing more to be, be a part of his kingdom.
I being a sheep, it's hard to lead some sheep. Now,
you know what I'm talking about?
It is because, because we're so fearful,
we're so easily distracted.
Am I right?
We're so easily pulled away from what God's doing,
we so easily get to where we're not doing, we're not where we ought to be, we're not walking as we ought to walk. And it's just easy.
It's just easy for it to happen.
And therefore we spend a whole lot of time.
Well,
Backpedaling really had somebody earlier today having a little talk,
and they said, man, it was so hard for me to go to the altar the first time.
And I thought,
well, yeah, it is.
It ain't easy,
right?
It's not. I mean, it ain't easy. It ain't easy. Anything that's Christian faith,
that's faith based is not easy.
It's not.
It takes, it takes,
it takes,
takes a long time for you to get up and trust God.
Even though all these things have been provided for you. Salvation, right,
the kingdom, right,
the glory, all that's been provided for you.
But you just, you know, I don't know.
I don't know.
Well,
I can say this, that we have somehow figured out how to get more and more people to actually trust God and move.
And that's probably got a lot more to do with you than it does with anything else. With, with the quality of people who desire to see God at work.
He says, he says,
for the accuser of our brethren who accuses them before our God day and night has been cast down, which means he is not.
God's not listening to him.
Any accusation made against you is first of all true before you were redeemed and not true afterwards.
Right?
So,
okay, fine, that's true.
But I'm redeemed.
I'm good to go.
What I did is now glory to Christ and his salvific power. And. And I'm. I'm. I'm redeemed out of it.
As you go today, I pray that.
The Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
