This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.
Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.
I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.
I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up.
His word to you and allow you.
To see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.
Sunday that we discussed it, a good remembrance lesson of Bible study. So that as I looked through scripture, I realized, you know,
I wasn't even practicing what I preached.
And what I mean by that is when we study scripture, I always say that the way we interpret scripture is we interpret words by the verses around them, verses by the chapters around them, chapters by the books around them.
And then obviously,
everything is like a diamond that focuses in on every passage. So you take all of scripture and you focus it in on all the passages.
And I normally try to do that,
but I didn't realize and I didn't even think about it until Pastor Jimmy gave me that. Gave me what his understanding of it was.
We're about to move into chapter 13.
So the verses that I was having a little bit of trouble last week with, as far as I didn't really know what they meant,
they lead into chapter 13.
And chapter 13 is a very important chapter because it is the chapter that introduces us to the boogeyman,
the. The mythical boogeyman of the book of the Revelation, okay?
And the realization that the mythical boogeyman is not just one man.
He. He's two.
And.
And not only is he not just one man, he's two. He's a part of Satan's.
Well,
he's a. He's. He's a revelation of Satan's character, nature.
And the chapter introduces us to Satan's effort to do what he does,
which he's a counterfeiter of God.
Okay? He counterfeits what God does.
Meaning when you're reading through scripture,
you'll come across Satan and what Satan does, even when he was dealing with Jesus in the wilderness, he would take God's word,
he would manipulate it a little bit,
just slightly,
and then he would hand it to Jesus and say, jesus, deal with this this way. You know, this is. You know,
and he tempted him that Way. Well, that's the same way that. That's the same way that God does with us,
okay?
God, God,
God tempts. I mean, that's the same way that Satan does with us.
Satan tempts us with a counterfeit gospel, a counterfeit idea, counterfeit understanding, okay?
And the book of the Revelation. In the book of the Revelation, he does the same thing with God himself,
okay? Because Satan fell because he wanted to be as God was. He wanted to be God,
okay? And so in the, in the end times,
Satan is in,
is. Is going to create his own trinity.
Then as a part of that Trinity, he's going to try to create a being that.
That is from him that will replace mankind or is an effort to replace man.
And we see that in what we call the Antichrist,
okay?
Now a lot of people think that the Antichrist,
he is the key figure of scripture and he is a key figure, but he's not the key figure of what Satan's doing.
Satan is trying to be God,
the Antichrist that you call the Antichrist,
he is trying to be Jesus.
The Antichrist that nobody talks about is trying to be the Holy Spirit.
And then their image,
and it's literally called that in the book of the Revelation,
the image which they create is an effort to prove that Satan can have his own creation.
But you need to hear this.
Satan,
that's the one thing that Satan is not.
And that's the one thing, one aspect of our nature and our character and the way that God has made us that is different from Satan and more powerful than Satan is.
We have the power to create.
He does not have the power to create.
He just functions off of what's not God.
And he tries his best to. To counterfeit God.
So when you're studying through scripture, you need to understand that that's what he's doing now in that context, understanding that chapter 13 is about that.
I'm going to read you the passage again and let's just think about it as if Satan is doing some counterfeiting,
okay?
It says here, it says here, then the dragon,
then, then when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth,
notice he's angry because he's been kicked out of heaven. He does not. He is not able to be God.
And that the woman gave birth to a male child, meaning it's a picture of Israel being the mother of Jesus, being the source of Jesus's coming on the earth.
But the, but the one, He,
he,
he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.
So he's a persecutor of God's people.
But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle. That's Brett's favorite verse to prove that he wasn't here last year for me to pick on him. But he was here Sunday, so I gave him a double portion Sunday.
But that's Brett's favorite verse.
If he wants America to be in the book of the Revelation, this is the verse he uses, okay? He'll always say, but, Chad,
doesn't it say a great eagle? Yes, it does.
So it is here. And it can be.
He says that she might fly into the wilderness to her place where she is nourished for a time, a time and a time and a half in the presence of the serpent.
Meaning she's kept from the serpent. And he is around,
but the serpent's not given access to her,
okay? Which means the serpent's not able to destroy Israel.
And that's what he's. He's trying to do at the end. At the very end. He wants to kill all the Jews,
which is really what he's been doing since the beginning, since. Since Abraham. He's been trying to kill all the Jews.
All right? And so it says. So the serpent now notice what he does. He spews water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman.
Now, if you use that as a counterfeit,
then he's trying to use his spiritual power because the flowing of the water is a picture of the eternal life that's provided to us by the Holy Spirit. He says he'll place in you wells of living water that'll spring up to eternal life,
okay? So that moving water,
that water that is spewing forth, is a picture of the Holy Spirit.
And so if he is counterfeiting that, he's trying to use his spiritual power as if his spiritual power is more powerful than God's spiritual power.
If we're using that ability right there to say, okay,
is he being a counterfeiter?
Well,
that's one of the ways he would counterfeit God, right?
And it says it was like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.
Okay?
By the way,
the flood is another picture of God destroying one of Satan's prime plans to destroy God's plan.
The flood was given to us. The Noah's flood was given so that God might wipe out a race of people that Satan had created by causing angels to have relations with the daughters of women,
creating the Nephilim in an effort to destroy the bloodline of humanity.
And so God allowed the flood. And by the way, the flood is an interesting. Is a very interesting historic thing. And what I mean by that.
Well,
every major culture. And when I say every.
I'm talking about every.
Every major culture in the world that we have archaeological evidence from has a flood story.
Did y' all know that?
North America, South America,
all the way over into East Asia, China,
Japanese,
all of them. All of them. All of them.
All of them have a flood story.
Africa,
all of them.
Everywhere there's a flood story.
All of them.
If it's a major civilization and it has any historical books and historical evidence, the one thing that you will always find in all of them is a flood story.
Okay,
that's interesting, isn't it?
It's very interesting.
And that he would try to replicate that or counterfeit that to destroy Israel as God had destroyed the Nephilim.
Okay, that's interesting. It's very, very interesting that that would happen that way.
We're reading it as if we were Pastor Jimmy, okay? I can't teach it as well as he would teach it, but we're going to read it as. Faster, Jimmy.
But the earth helped the woman,
by the way.
That's. That's a biblical understanding. The earth does two things, generally speaking, when we're dealing with the actual earth,
okay? It does two things.
The earth.
The earth groans because of sin in creation.
The Bible says that the earth groans because of the sin of creation.
The second thing the earth tends to do is swallow up the enemy or the works of Satan when they happen.
It happens a couple of times in scripture.
He swallows up the.
The cores the. Those who rebel in Korah's rebellion. He swallows up the. He swallows up the earth, swallows up the golden calf.
And the earth is where Jesus is placed. He says, as Noah is in the belly of the well, so I will be three days in the belly of the earth.
It is in scripture,
and some believe in reality it is the location of the bosom of Abraham.
Okay?
And you go, well,
do you have any scientific evidence of that?
And do we have any scientific evidence that the center of the earth is.
Is populated with anybody? Do we.
Let me ask you something.
If I ask you what percentage of the. Of the earth under our feet have we actually explored?
Meaning how deep have we actually dug down?
Does anybody know what percentage that might be?
Huh?
It's less than 5, probably closer to 1 or 2%.
You do realize that, right?
We only think we may have dug down one place and actually gotten to what we call the mantle.
And if you do, if you open up your science book, you've got the core, the mantle, and the crust. By the way, the crust is thin crust.
We blew a fuse,
actually, I think that the battery went out.
It's red.
So the crust is like thin crust pizza. Okay.
When you look at it, it's not a thick crust piece, it's a thin crust pizza. On the Earth, the mantle is really big, and then the core is. Is really big.
Now, by the way,
there's good reason to believe those things are true.
Okay?
By the way, the Earth.
By the ma. By the way, the Earth affects things as far as gravity,
okay? We can measure gravitational attraction. So there's good reason that the center of the Earth is molten.
All right? Molten lead, some kind of molten core. All right? Because it's probably got to be a heavy metal, especially considering the magnetic field around the Earth.
Okay, you go. How can we measure that? Well, thank Einstein. That's how we can measure it. Okay. All right. He says,
but the Earth helped the woman, and the Earth opened the mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of her mouth.
And the dragon was enraged with the woman,
and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. So he went to make war against the other Christians.
Okay, all right,
so now we've got that.
As you go. Today, I pray that the Lord will.
Bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
