Hope Alive: Applying God’s Word to Your Daily Life

The Revelation 14:9-11

I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today. In Jesus name.

He says, it says here. Then the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, if anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of God, of the wrath of God. Notice it's the same thing that was said about Babylon that leads to the wrath of God, this new world religion. He's saying, if you worship the beast, I want you to notice everybody gets all caught up on if they got the mark on their hand, they're going to hell. It's not what it says. If they worship the beast and have the mark, they go to hell. Right. I was taught at law school to look at the words very carefully. Okay. When you're reading a statute, you look at it very carefully. What does it say? He says. He says, if anyone worships the beast in his image and receives the mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself. Both. Both and not. Or shall drink of the wine of God's wrath, the same judgment that comes from the Babylon the Great, the. The great world religion, the great, Which is poured out full strength into the cup of his indignation, which means this is going to be the full strength of God's indignation toward that. Now, for those of you who don't know what that means, that's bad. It's real bad. Okay? It's just bad. You ain't gonna like it. He shall be tormented with the fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And you're sitting there going, well, God. Does God. Does God torture people? No, you don't have to torture people, all right? I want you to hear me. They don't get to get away from the Holy Spirit just because they say they don't think he exists. The fire, the brimstone is his wrath, but it's from the power of God, the spirit of God. And anytime you read fire, the first thing you need to think is the cleansing of the Holy Spirit, the purification of the Holy Spirit. Well, they're not being purified. So what happens when you're not purified? You're burnt up. Okay. And when they come into the presence of God and his holy angels at the Great White Throne Judgment, they are burnt up by his. That's why God told Moses, you can't look at me face to face. No one, no man can look at me face to face and live. Why? I'm holy. You, you can't look at me face to face, you'll die. I got a job for you. You can't die. You can't look at my face. Okay, well, what do you think happens to the lost who come before him at the Great White Throne? Judgment? They face the wrath of God. So it's not that God is torturing somebody, it's that. That's what happens when not God meets God. Okay? That's what happens. Now, I want you to hear me because the next about four or five chapters is pretty rough, okay? It is. Because it's the not God meeting, the full measure of God, okay? Which is the bold judgments. It's not good. It's the bowls of God's wrath which has been stored up for this moment. You got another one of those? I need a mint before I pray for somebody. In their face, anyway.

Thank you.

Anyway, understand that, okay? And I want you to hear me today because this is really, really important. All right? We do not preach judgment and wrath. We preach the good news, but we believe in judgment and wrath because God can't be God without it. Are you following me? Now, churches have trouble with that. If all you preach is hellfire and brimstone, you're not discipling your people in the grace of God. You're, like, not doing your job. Did y' all hear me? If you're not teaching your people to walk in the grace of God, you're not doing your job. So hellfire and brimstone and. Listen to me. I'm good at that. I've done it. I know how to do it. I'm good at it. Okay? It doesn't have the results that you're looking for. Because when you preach hellfire and brimstone to those who are not going to experience hellfire and brimstone, it's a waste. Are you with me? But you can't preach the grace of God if you do not believe that God's word is 100% true. Because how do you know that? You cut a little bit off. All you got to do is just compromise a little bit. I heard a seminary president one time say, well, we've got to have some people in there that believe differently so that we can have a more robust faculty. And I'm sitting there going, well, listen, if you are at Princeton, where everybody is going to. Did I say that out loud? Yes. Then maybe you want to have a robust faculty. You want everybody who worship. Worships all the pagan religions. Okay? But I'm not going to lie to you. We're going to one day have dozens and hundreds of pastors. If any of them comes up to me and says, well, Chad, I'm just not sure about this, well, I'm going to go, well, I'm not sure about you. You need to go back out there and sit in the congregation. You don't need to be leading God's people. Amen. You can sit in the congregation, not be sure about it. That's nothing wrong with that. I mean, you're gonna be not sure when you come in the door. Great. Our job is to help make you sure. But you ain't gonna lead. Not be sure. You're not. I got to the center of that Tootsie Roll, Pop. Just another word. So you'll understand. Because I get asked all kinds of questions. Do not listen to somebody who tells you I said something. Unless I said something, You go, why are you saying this? Well, one day there's going to be 5, 600,000, 2,000, 3,000. Best way devil can use to get a church all messed up is, well, you know, Pastor Chad, he said something. It don't matter who said it. If it doesn't line up with the Bible, it doesn't matter. But I want you to hear me. If I didn't stand up here and say it to the whole church, then it ain't in place. Y' all hear me? We have many pastors, but I am the head pastor. Am I right, Jimmy would Cope say I was? Would Ted say I was? Would Broad say I was? Would Philip say I was? Yes. It ain't a policy of the church unless I say it. You following me? Just being real with you. Because there's a lot of folks going, well, Pastor Chad said I could. Okay, fine. Might have said it. But if I don't stand up here and say it, it ain't so. That's right. You following me. And I am very measured in what I say. I tell you exactly what I think needs to be heard by the congregation. I have come to a great reverence for my position and not doing it wrongly. Okay. We all on the same page. So if somebody out there goes, well, Chad said we're going to be doing this. If you didn't hear, you can go back. He did go back and watch it. We got Facebook now. You know I'm talking about. You can go back and look. I didn't see him say that then. I didn't. You'll know. If somebody's going to be in charge of something, I'll let you know. Make sense. If it's a teaching of the church, I'll let you know. I don't even know why I'm. I do know why I'm telling you, but I. But I'm just letting you know. Like I said, we could have name tags every other week. We do it every other week now. I said we could. Yep. He's. I said it a few weeks ago. It's better to live on the corner of the roof than live in the house of the contentious woman. All right. All right. I want you to know that because oftentimes people get all in a fluff, a kerfuffle about something. Are you following me? We believe God's word and the things that we do as an individual church, as an autonomous body. I'm going to tell you, I'm not doing this arrogantly. I want you to hear that. It's been. I've had. I've been past for 30 years. I understand the very importance of saying it. We're not do. If you don't hear me say we're doing it, we ain't doing it. I think it's a wonderful. Okay, good. Thank you. Yes. He didn't be the. Yeah, I know. But sometimes the Holy Spirit says, keep. Make sure they hear it. All right? Amen. Amen. Amen. And you go. One last thing. Sheep are skittish. Are you following me? They'll get all skittish about all kinds of stuff. Every once in a while, they need to hear the shepherd say, this is the way it is. Okay. I'm just telling you, this is the way it is. Okay? Amen. Hallelujah. All right. And if I'm wrong, you can come up differently and talk to me about it. That's not a problem. I can be wrong, but. Yes, I can. I have been wrong a lot. And I've got somebody that's here with me tonight that will bring it up anytime. All right? And she remembers it all. All the way back from the first day time we went out on a date. She remembered everything I did wrong. And she'll tell you she knows, all right. She's keeping a list. She's much like Santa Claus. She keeps the list Checking it twice, all right. Gonna find out if you're naughty or nice. As you go today.

I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you. That he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
