This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up.
His word to you and allow you.
To see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.
So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth and, and threw it in the great wine press of the wrath of God. And the wine press was trampled outside the city and the blood came out to the of the wine press up to the horses bridles for 1,600 furlongs. That's 180 miles. That's some wrath.
But in God upset with me when I do wrong.
Yes, but he's not. He's not harvesting the. The grapes. What he's saying is he's fixing to.
Kill a lot of folks.
If we go by our numbers, 8 trillion people, 8 billion people on the earth, 4 billion die before this. The saints all die while it's going on. So from now till Jesus brings his millennial kingdom, there's going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 to 5.
Billion people killed in this. I'm watching something today on Somalia.
Did y' all know they're having problems over there? I am all the time, apparently. You know, we totally exited Somalia. And I'm not being negative at all, but we exited because they shot down a couple of Black Hawks and they killed several of our soldiers. And we don't like you to kill.
Any of our soldiers.
If you kill one of ours, we like to kill a couple hundred of yours. And by the way, most estimates are that for every soldier killed in Mogadishu during Black Hawk down, somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 to 200 people that.
Were fighting them got killed.
You know that, right? I mean, they was having to send hundreds to kill one. I mean, we just wiping them out like it ain't nothing. We get upset about a few soldiers dying. Classes from West Point.
And I can't remember the name of the British one, but I actually had some kids come to Princeton that were there and we did some exercises with them. I can't remember the Name of it.
They would have a class, show up on the battlefield, put them in charge, lieutenants.
The same day.
They went to school for four years. They graduated, took them out there, put them in charge of units, told them to get up, charge the machine gun nest. Not all together. It wasn't like they were all fighting together, them and the men that they were in charge of. Them, by the hundreds of thousands were dying. Our worst war for us was the Civil War. Brett, do you know exactly how many people died in Civil war? Wasn't it 70,000?
That's a 700,000, 690,000.
He had another three or 400,000 die from disease. Right. You know, many Russians died during World War II. We don't know for sure, but we know it was at least 20 million.
If not 40 million.
The Great Leap forward, which wasn't even a war in China. Somewhere around 60 million people died. You know, they decided that they put all the smart people out there doing the farming and not let the farmers do the farming, and that would cause the society to move forward.
60 million dead, starved to death.
And that.
I'm telling you this stuff because none of it touches what's about to happen here.
Because when the wrath of God's poured.
Out, it is terrible.
Terrible. And you go, pastor, why do these things happen? Well, Russian and Communist Party, godless. Paul Potts, Khmer Rouge, godless. One of the sure ways to get slowed down on Facebook. Y' all ready for it? The most powerful force on Facebook, the ccp. Communist Chinese Party, godless. **** germany, godless. Japan had a God, Not the real God.
Godless. Godlessness leads to the wrath of God.
You are not in that. When we read the book of the Revelation, you cannot comprehend how terrible this.
Is going to be.
We're fainting to get to a part where figgin to. Okay, we're figging to get to a part. Okay, we're about to get to a part that you're not from the South. Do you know what figging to means? It means about to. All right, we're going to get to a part where they ask the rocks to fall on them. And they won't kill them. They can't die because God's going to keep whooping them and won't let them die. And I say that because whenever I listen to somebody talk about this part of the revelation, they just really get.
Into, you know, the wrath of God, those godless people.
And for me, in my mind, all I can think of is, we're in a watt. We're Literally out there floating in the.
Ocean of God's grace.
And acting like we live where the sickle is, harvesting the grapes in the wine pressed of God's wrath. We literally act like that's where we live. You ain't got a clue. Stop. Quit belly aching. Quit whining.
Yeah, but Pastor Chad, you know, my son's got all these problems.
Okay? Have you ever asked God what he like to do about it? Have you ever said, well, God, my expectation is that you're going to do these things because that's in your word, and I'm living by those promises and I'm going to quit saying that about him. You go, well, that's just, you know, that's just positive. No, it's not positive thinking.
It's.
It's. Seriously, I'm not giving you the power of positive thinking. I'm giving you the power of godly thinking, which is different. Positive thinking is, everything's wonderful. That's positive thinking. Don't think anything negative. I want you to think something negative. I want you to fully see your son's issue. And then I want you to speak every piece of life that there is in the word of God over that.
Situation as if it is going to happen.
It's not dressing it up and making it look good. It's not. You just putting the blinders on and everything's going to be okay. It's not going to be okay. If God doesn't show up, it ain't going to be okay. Can I tell y', all that God doesn't show up, it ain't gonna be okay.
Right?
But you got power in it. He says, in your tongue is the power of life. Your lungs are full of the breath of the Holy Spirit. You start. You got to start looking at like, okay, well, if this is how it works, then exactly how is God going.
To glorify himself and do big stuff in this circumstance?
And here's the cool thing about it. It won't ever stay that way. And you'll come up with some of the greatest things God could do in that circumstance, and it won't stay that way. And it'll turn out better than you thought it would turn out. But if the person who is supposed to be speaking life into the situation is not. I mean, you realize how frustrating that is. You're the one. You're the one supposed to be speaking life. If we just do it a little.
Bit, what will happen.
If we just started looking around and saying, where's God at?
And all this?
What might Happen.
I mean.
I mean, you see what's happened here. I'm just telling you just a little bit.
This is just a little bit what.
Might happen if we move it to the next level. I'm talking about, you know, move out of first gear. Praise God, we in first gear. A lot of churches keep putting it in reverse, right? Reverse, reverse. They can't get that. Clutch, clutch keep sticking. Am I right? They can't get it out of reverse. All right, we're in first gear. Pastor, you saying we're not moving Very. No, we're not. We're not. If we're in a wash of God's grace, we just barely going. We're just barely going, which is great. Everybody's loving it, right? Can you imagine if we got the third gear? Look, we can't get there tomorrow, but. But what if we get there in the next 30 years, what might be going on around here? What could possibly be happening for us? Can you imagine how great it could be? It'd be. It'd be totally fundamentally world changing if we got to third gear. When I read this book, it makes me think of what is going on there. Sure, but where do I live? None of that's happening to me. I get no wrath when God sees me. He sees Jesus when I enter into his throne room. I have all the promises that he said I could have. He sees me as literally his son, a co heir with Christ. I'm a royal prince in the kingdom of God. How many of y' all ever been treated special somewhere? Feels good, don't it? Can you imagine if you really knew how it was when you walked in throne room of heaven? The angels are everywhere. Are you following me? And I'm talking about spiritually. The Bible says walk boldly before the throne of grace, which means when you go to speak to God in the spiritual sense, in your eternal life, you are literally in the throne room of heaven speaking to God. I want you to hear me. The angels are acting like the crown prince is coming in. You are special, super special. And he says you got a right to go in anytime you want to, anytime you want to. You know, you got to be called in front of the king. Crown prince gets to go in anytime he wants to. You get to go in anytime you want to and speak to God. You are super special, super special. Way special than you've ever been, more special than you ever been treated. And I'm afraid sometimes we just stand.
Outside the door, you know, it just ain't going right for me. I hate this. It's happening this way for us. Lord, I just don't know how it's all going to work out.
We're not talking about in the throne room. We're talking about, like, outside the doors. The angel's sitting there going, won't you go in?
Just go in, go in, go in, go in. Just go in. Oh, it ain't. It just don't ever work out right for me. Such a blessing to see other people blessed by God. But, you know, I guess I'm just going to be what I'm going to be. I mean, it's cotton picking embarrassing, if you want to know the truth.
Not for anybody but you, okay? I mean, nobody's going to be embarrassed. After it's over with, you're the only one going to be embarrassed about it, really. You ought to be. If you're walking in shame, fear, doubt, all that kind of stuff, just pick the fruit of the spirit and get the opposite of it, okay? If you're walking in hate, and you should be walking in love, if you're walking in bitterness and despair rather than joy, if you're walking in anxiousness rather than peace, if you have that going on in your heart, it's just cotton picking. Embarrassing. It's embarrassing for you.
It is.
You're like a king, a priest and a king, and when you speak the word of God, you're a prophet. You speak out. You. When you speak God's word, you're prophesying. So you're a prophet, priest and a king, right? When you use your tongue for life, that's prophecy, okay? We speak God's word, prophecy, right? So you're a prophet, priest and a king, awash in the grace of God. We're not talking about the Grapes of Wrath day. You really got nothing to complain about. None of you got anything to complain about. None of you. And you go, well, well, I'm having trouble with this. I know you are. I know you are. It's okay. I know you are. You are. I mean, it. It's not easy to learn to walk. It's not easy to learn to ride a bike. It's not easy to learn to read. It's all these things for me. It's really not easy to learn to read, okay? For all of y', all. Who for this? I know everybody here knows calculus. It was tough, right? Huh?
Brett said, I'm out.
I said, brett never made an A.
In math on the golf course the.
Other day because he kept saying 99%.
Of all putts that are Short don't go in. And that's not true.
If you put a ball and it doesn't get to the hole, it's 100% of the time.
It don't go on 100%.
And I said, brett, you were terrible at math. You never made an A. And he said, a B, B. Did you make a C? Okay, good, good. When Brett took math in college, literally.
The book said math.
Did say algebra. It was college algebra. Good, good. I'm joking about that. But it's true. Yeah, you, you are. You were able to do. If you just kind of even explored the option, said, I'm going to today. Lord, help me today. I know I'm long. Lord, help me today. And you know what you do, right? All of you know, whatever you do that you know ain't from God. Okay, I don't know what it is, but whatever it is, you either walk in shame.
I'm, you know, I just not good enough for Jesus. I did this and this God can never use me. You talking about like the blind man who nobody even, I mean, he got healed and he didn't even do anything. And you know, both his parents sinned.
And everybody else he knew sinned. And all of it caused him to be blind. The whole world sin caused him to be blind. He got healed and didn't do a cotton picking thing for it. At least blind. Bartimaeus was hollering a lot, right? You can say blind. Barmayas said, I'm, you know, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. This blind man, he just sitting there. Disciples go, well, who made him blind? And mom or daddy? And Jesus said, I'm going to show you for God's glory. And then he's filling his eyes with.
The mud.
And made him go wash in the siloam. Then he was could see. Whatever you do, what is it you do? Can I ask you that? What is it you do that is clearly not of the Spirit? And the easy way to analyze it is to go through the fruit of the spirit. It's not the fruits of the spirit, it's the fruit all in one.
And it has these aspects to it.
All right, it's one fruit. Go through the fruit, pick the opposite, figure out what's opposite.
It's called antonym. You can put it on word perfect.
Is it antonym?
It's. Yeah, antonym. I knew it was.
I. I'm not good at the English. You know what I'm talking about?
I'm against English, really, to tell you the truth. Me and English Hate each other.
All right. I highlight it. If you can't figure it out, highlight all the fruit of the spirit.
Love. And it'll.
Highlight it and then right click on it.
I'm teaching you something here.
I challenge you to do this. Everybody in the room, go. There's only eight of them. Go in the Bible. Your Bible. Y' all got it tabbed in your computer, right? Where you can just go to the Bible, Find the fruit of the spirit. Single nations, right? All right. Go to Galatians. Find the fruit of spirit. Highlight all the fruits. Fruit.
It's a joke.
Highlight all the fruit. Copy. Go to word, paste it. Then highlight the word. Right click on it. Find the antonyms. It'll be right there. Similar. What is the other one? Synonyms. Synonyms, not synonyms. That's the same. Find the antonyms and it'll give you a list. If you do one of those things on the list, type it out beside.
It.
That way you get the whole batch. Right? All right. If you. And do that for every one of them. If you do that in your heart during the day, Put them on the list and spend. Let's. Let's give you a whole week. Lord, teach me to not do this.
But to do love.
Lord, teach me this week not to.
Do this, but to do love.
Now, look, there's going to be some of those lists. You do all of them. So it's going to take you a month and a half, two months, maybe even three months, all right? To do that. If you do all of them on the list. That's. That's good. You got some good homework. You gonna. You Finn. Be life changed. Okay. This week, Lord, I am not going to be.
Depressed.
And you go, well, what if I feel depressed? That's not for me. I believe God's word. So then I. I go and find all the things that says that God's given me his love.
And look, and so I'm not going.
To be depressed now, if you. At the end of the week, if you ain't got it settled, don't move on. Stay. Stay. Now you going, Pastor, that just sounds foolish. I swear to you it's not. Pastor. I realized in my early 20s.
I have no idea what time it is.
7:17.
Okay.
It's bedtime.
Name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. He'll drive it out, Lord.
All right. I realized that I. Most of the day was angry, And it wasn't like it wasn't obvious. I took a job my freshman year after football season to bounce in the.
Eating clubs at Princeton.
And the whole reason I took that job is so that I could beat people up at Princeton. They said, you can be a bouncer. I said, what do they do? What do they pay? They said, whatever.
And I said, that sounds like a good job. I ain't got nothing to do on Thursday, Friday, Saturday night.
I said. They said, what do you do? Well, you just do security. What do you mean, doing security? Well, if anybody acts up, you know, you. You handle them. Now, I don't think things meant handle.
Them like I handle them, but you handle them. I thought, I get to handle.
How many of them do I get to have? All of them that act up. Hold on now. I get to handle people who act up.
So I just beat the snot out of folks.
That's what I did. And then I got to. God called me to the ministry.
I was called by God.
Are y' all following me?
Called by God, received the holy calling.
I'm making a joke of it because that's how y' all act when about.
Me and about pastors. Oh, he's called. I'm just some peasant in the kingdom.
You're all anointed. Okay, Every one of you. I got about 27, 28. And realized I'd build a bridge. It'd be beautiful. Somebody on the other side tick me off, I'd nuke that sucker right then. You know what I'm talking about. Burn it to the ground. Yell at them on the other side. I mean, I could get angry. I mean, just at a bam. I said, you know, I'm thinking, this ain't godly. Might all look some things up. So I just looked up in the Bible. I didn't do the thing that most Christians do. Most Christians go, well, that's just who I am. That's just who you was. I looked it up. Man's anger does not bring about God's righteousness. What, Be angry and sin not. And I'm sitting there going, I can't do that. Well, then don't be angry. I start going through the Bible, and I realize anger is not from God. So you know what I did? I started memorizing those passages. Every week, I'd memorize a passage, and every time, anger started burning up inside of me. Y' all know what it's like. Used to be anger start burning up, and I just grabbed the fuel and start swallowing it.
Just.
I mean, you know, I'm jet fuel. Put it in there. Let's burn today, right? I promise you, I felt that way. Anger start Burning up inside of me. Let's get it going bonfire today. I promise you I felt that way. I turn around, the whole villages, all the trees burning around me. I started studying that man's anger does.
Not bring about God's righteousness every time.
Poured on it. Believe it. You know what?
It works.
I'm not saying I don't ever get angry.
I mean, Kathleen still wants to drive, but don't want to drive. You know what I'm saying? Sometimes I do get angry about that. I mean, there's some things make me.
Angry, you know, when you live with somebody that's flawed, you get angry.
She gets angry at me too.
You know what I'm talking about? I'm not saying she. We live with each other. You're going to be angry. You don't have all those things. You're going to the people you're closest to. I want you to hear me. This is important. The people. If you live with somebody, the closer you are, family, children, parents, their flaws are going to be magnified in your mind because you. You love them and you're tired of them. And it's not tired of them all, but just tired of them being what they shouldn't be. And I'm not being ugly about that. I know Kathleen feels that way. She ain't shot me yet, but I know she feels that way. Okay, I can just tell sometimes she's not killed me yet, but I know she feels that way. All right, now listen to me. Those are the. Those are the ones I got to do it the most with because those are the ones I got to speak the most life into. So when I do my antonyms, I sure enough need to for sure do that in regard to the people that are closest to me. And I promise you, if you do that exercise, pick the anonym that you do, look up in the Bible, what God says about the. That when you start feeling that.
Nothing.
Wrong with your emotions. Your emotions tell you what's wrong and what's right, but they're not the truth. They're just an indicator. Start doing that. Whenever you feel that antonym, start quoting the word of God to yourself and say, I am this and I'm not that. And if you do that enough over time, I promise you I don't get angry much.
It's not near what I used to.
As you go today, I pray that.
The Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
