His word to you and allow you.
To see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.
We're in Revelation chapter 15, starting with verses one, and we're going to go through verse four tonight. The, the Bible study is, is based off of chapter 15, but the truth is, is that it. It in many ways is in extension of chapter 14. The truth is, is that chapter 15 is only eight verses long, probably especially as you kind of look at them together. And, and we ought to, because as we studied God's Word, we are, we are studying in it in the context of the passages around it. And you would definitely study it in context to the verses around it, but you would also study it in context to the chapters around it. And last chapter, we dealt with God reaping the harvest in the world. He sends out the 144,000. There's a great proclamation of the angels about the beast. And then God reaps a harvest, and then he reaps his grapes of wrath. And that is a final judgment of the wrath of God against sin. Now remember that Jesus functions as our propitiate. What does that mean? Well, Jesus functions as the one who is the one who is the propitiation for our sins. He is the one who soothes the wrath of God against sin. That is what propitiation is. It is the soothing of or the relieving or the replacing of God's wrath against sin. And Jesus is the one who was our replacement. He took our place as the wrath against sin. Now, if you do not have the blood of the Lamb, meaning you're not redeemed, you haven't had the propitiation, meaning the wrath of God eased the wrath of God soothed against your sin. If that's not happened, well, then the wrath of God is upon you. It's available to you. And chapter 15 begins what is known as the Great Tribulation, the final judgments of God against the earth. And those judgments are. Well, they're there are powerful judgments. And those judgments, they, they, they cause us to take a back, be taken aback sometimes to, to what, to what God's doing. Because, because those judgments are, well, they're, they're final. They, they, they end all things. And, and, and the setting for that kind of gives us how the wrath works, how the judgments work, and what God's doing. So you read in verse 15, it starts, then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous. Now it's interesting that this word great and marvelous, these two words together are also seen in verse three to describe the works of the Lord God Almighty, who is Jesus. So this, these signs are great and marvelous, meaning there's something that hadn't been seen before. They're unseen, unknown, the works of God. What God's doing is really, what he's doing is revealing the mysteries that we see in the Old Testament. He's telling us things that haven't been known before. He's given us some new revelation. And so when we're studying this new revelation and we're considering what God says in this, it's good to see that he's telling us, this is something that I have not done this way before. Now, has he pronounced wrath on the earth? Sure he has. He did it in the flood, but then he gave us the rainbow and he said, you know, I'm not gonna bring about my wrath on the earth anymore like this. I'm not gonna flood the earth. Now. He didn't say I wasn't gonna. He didn't say he wasn't going to. He wasn't going to satiate his wrath by, by his, his, his judgment on the earth. He just said, I'm not going to do it in this way. This is a new way. This is a great and marvelous, marvelous way. Now there's seven angels having seven last plagues. That's what it says. Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous. Seven angels having seven last plagues. For in them the wrath of God is complete. Now you would say, well, I know my symbolism, Pastor. We've been talking about it for a while. 7 is the number of completion. It is, it's the number of completion. So many people use perfection. And perfection is an at is actually an aspect of completion. Because if it's complete, it's. It's done perfectly, it's finished, it doesn't need to be done again, it doesn't need to be redone. It is, it is perfect in its completion. But the number seven really best is best. Best symbolizes God's complete work. So these seven, seven angels. Why do we have angels here where they're going to give us a message, they're going to tell us what's going on. They're the narrators of the events that are going to take place, these seven angels. And they're also ministers, spirits sent to minister unto the saints of God, which means that this is a ministry. The wrath of God against sin is very, very important for us as believers. And missing that will, will, will, will kind of lead you to not really understand why it, you know, it makes God seem, I guess the best way to describe it is mean, you know, God's mean. Why is he being wrathful toward the earth? Well, he's being wrathful towards sin and toward those that are, are, are not under the blood, that are not redeemed. He's being wrathful toward them because, and this is really important because he has promised that he would be wrathful against sin and that he would be gracious toward those who trust him. And so if he does not live up to his word, to his promises, and if he does not live up to his promises to be wrathful towards sin, well, then how do believers, how do believers know that he's going to live up to his promises, promises to be gracious toward us? The truth is, is that we don't know. And one of the ways we do know is that he's consistently true. He's consistently living up to his promises. He consistently does what he's supposed to do. So in many ways, God being wrathful towards sin is a fulfillment of his promises to us. Because he's saying, I am going to be kind and merciful to whom I say I'm going to be kind and merciful to. And I'm going to describe them as people of faith, people who trust me, people who walk by faith. And I'm going to be wrathful to those who don't. Well, if he, if he's not wrathful to those who don't, is he really, is he really truly being merciful to those who do? And the answer is really not. And so the seven angels having the seven last plagues, these are the final plagues of God. These are God's final judgments on the earth. And, and, and, and God's wrath is fully satiated by this way. Now, like I said, his wrath against us for our sin is, has been satiated on the cross. It's been taken care of, it's been completed on the cross. His wrath against the earth is going to be satiated in these plagues. These plagues are going to bring about God's final satiation of his wrath on the earth. And so it says in verse two, and I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire. Now that's, that's, that, that has a lot of symbolism to it. And it, and it's something we probably need to spend a little time on. Remember sea of glass. And, and he let me just read it without the something, okay? It says, and I saw like a sea of glass mingled with fire. Or I saw as it were, like a sea of glass mingled with fire. And the, the idea here that he gives us that, that that means, as it were is he's telling us this is symbolic, okay? He's telling us this, that this is symbolism and it going to give us insight. And obviously whenever you have a sea, seas are the Gentiles. And whenever you have the land that's the Jews, that's, that's just, you know, the symbolism 101 of the book of the Revelation is really just symbolism 101 of the Bible. The sea is the Gentiles and the land is the Jews. So when you have a sea of glass, that doesn't mean that the sea is glass, that the sea has the appearance of glass. What does that mean? Well, it's calm. It's completely calm. And if you have the sea that's completely calm or the Gentiles are completely calm, there's no turmoil. And by the way, every time we see Jesus, every time we see Jesus dealing with, with our humanity and on the ocean there always seems to be a storm. There always seems to be a problem brew up. Why? Because sins enter the world and that causes chaos to be in the world and that causes death to be in the world and that causes storms to be in the world. But here there is no storm. It's completely placid. It's completely calm. And the calmness and the end and the, and the placidness of life that God provides to us is the absence of sin. And, and, and so this is, this is pointing to the, the gentiles are not under the curse of sin here. Okay? Now remember in the chapter before you've got 244,000 Jewish preacher boys and they go out and they go preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. They're out there in the turmoil of the world. Here we've got a sea of glass. And so that's a picture of the, that's a picture of God's calmness due to his Satiation of his wrath towards sin. God's not wrathful toward us anymore. And so it's mingled with fire. And remember, fire is always the Holy Spirit. It's always the work of the Holy Spirit. It's all, always the burning off of the dross, the waste. God's removed all the waste. And so you've got a calm sea. And the only thing that is moving, the only thing that you can see is the fire of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has completed his work in purifying the church. Okay, so for those of you who wonder whether or not will be here to the end, this is a picture of God saying, no, no, no, no. The sea of glass is mingled with fire. And those who have victory over the beast, over his image, over his mark, and over his number of his name standing on the sea of glass, having hearts of God. Wow. Okay, so there's no issue of sin. There's no turmoil of the world. There's no, there's no struggling. And the Holy Spirit's fire is among them, which means they're completely protected. They're completely empowered. They have eternality with them. They have the knowledge of God with them. They have the power of God with them. And they have. Present tense. They are victorious, meaning they're past the power of these four things. They, they have. They. The thing, the, the works of the beast and the evil in the world no longer has a hold on them. Like that didn't take place on the earth, that takes place in heaven. And so you, you see that, that the, the victory is over the beast. Okay, that's the Antichrist. That's the, the beast out of the sea. They don't have. They, they, they, they. They're victorious. They. They conquered him. Now remember, that's the Nikkei They. That's not a diadem. That's not innate to them. They've actually conquered. They've overcome. That's oftentimes. That's a good word to use, and it is used many times in many translations. Rather than using victory, they use the word overcome and we overcome and then we are victorious. So you do win when you overcome. You don't overcome and then lose. You overcome and you are victorious. And they're victorious over the beast, which is, which is the power of the enemy in the last days. It is, it is Satan's plan to be worshiped by the world. So they overcome. They overcome the enemy by, by, by the beast and over his image. Now this is interesting. Why, I mean, why do we have to have why do they have to be victorious over his image? Well, remember the, the, the, the way Satan has set this up, because remember, he doesn't come up with his own, his own way of being God. He's gotta, he's, he's gonna be God in the way God is and he's gotta look like God in the way God is, because he doesn't make for himself his own God. Gods, okay? And so Satan is the father, the beast out of the sea is the son. The beast out of the land, which is the false prophet is the Holy Spirit. So you have the Antichrist out of the sea. It's the person we call the Antichrist. Then the beast out of the land, which is the false prophet. So you got Father, Son, Holy Spirit. And then they create this image, you know, for our modern times. It seems like one of those obvious things for them back then. I can imagine they're going, he's going to make an image, he's going to make a statue and it's going to come to life. And but for us today, we know, we know that that could be done by making a robot that seems to have sentient life meaning. It has its own consciousness. It actually, it actually operates in its own consciousness. Consciousness. And so they overcome by victory over the beast and victory over this image. Now for you, those of you who are so scared of AI and so scared of robots and so scared of those things, or you're just, you're, you're just a movie aficionado and you, you, you're afraid of Terminator, no matter, no matter where you fall on that spectrum, okay? If you're, you have a fear of technology or you have fear of artificial intelligence, no matter where you find on that, I'm going to tell you, you have victory over it. Okay? They have victory over the beast and they have victory over this image which the Bible describes as a idol and which the, the beast and the beast out of the sea and the false prophet, the beast out of land, bring to life, in fact, the false prophets, the one that brings the beast, the image to life. So they have victory over that. So those of you are worried about that, Those of you concerned about it, there seems to be a reason to be concerned about it. Yeah, yeah. But now it reaches its pinnacle and its fullness during the tribulation. So, so until then, it's not going to have its full power over you. You just need to know that at that time, well, this image is going to rule. This image is going. Cause the image is Satan's effort to create his own humans. Okay, so you got the father, Satan, you got the son, the beast out of the sea. You got the Holy Spirit, the beast out of the land. And, and then you have this image, which is who? Adam, man. Okay? And so this image has power and authority because Satan's going to give this image his power and authority. And that power and authority is something to. If you're going to be on the earth, it's something to be fearful of. But notice they are victorious, meaning they overcome the beast and they overcome his image. So we're going to win. I don't know if you knew that or not, as we've been studying through the Bible. But in the end, if you just want to flip to the very end, we win. We do. And we do. And, and we have victory over the beast and over his mark, meaning the way he has power over the humans, human, humanity, is that they take on his mark, which means that, that they can. He. He. He controls, he controls your. Your efforts, he controls your labor, he controls your, your. The results of your labor, your finances. He controls everything. He controls your ability to buy and sell goods. Why? Because he controls everything. He. You are back. You're back fully in slavery to Satan. Because if, who, whoever controls your labor and the products of your labor is your master. Now, if you, and that's what our country was founded on, was that you have power over your own labor. You have power over, you have control over. Over. Over the works of your hands and the result of your will, the desires of your heart when you desire to do something. And then that doing something produces something outside in the world by your labor. When you do that, you have, you have power over it and, and you have control over it and it's yours. That's why the Bible teaches us personal property rights, you know, individual property rights. Why you go, where does the Bible teach that thou shalt not steal? Well, if it's not yours, I can't take it from you. I can't steal it from you. But if it is yours, then I can steal it from you. Right? There is. And you go, is that the only example? That's just the tip of the iceberg. There's, there's hundreds, hundreds of examples in the Old Testament of you having. You. You have an ownership of the products of your will. And by the way, you're going to be called account to account for them. Right? And we do, we know that, that the consequences of our lives matter. And so if I, If I do right, then, then I'M going to reap the benefits from it. And if I do evil, I'm going to reap the, reap the consequences of it. And all of those things are consequential. Like it matters. We matter who we are and what we do matters. And so understanding that is really, really, really important. I have the right to the ownership of the products of my will and my labor. And the mark of the beast takes that away. It takes that away. Satan has control of the product of your work and your labor. And if he's got control of it, well, the things are not good. And not only that, not only that, he's going to use it for his benefit and not for yours. God. God. What does God do when we, when we glorify him with our faith, with our will and with our works? What does he do? He blesses us. He blesses us. We use who we are to make him known. And we are blessed because of it. Notice God does not use, does not use it for, for his own, his own benefit solely. It benefits us also. We are consequential. We matter. And our actions have consequence. Consequence is not a negative thing. When our actions are born of faith or born of trust, or born of hope or born of love, they're not, they're not evil. They're. Those things are good. And so he gives us victory over the Antichrist. He gives us victory over this artificial intelligent robot who controls all things. He controls the earth. He's over all the computer banks and all the Internet, and he controls all that. And, and, and we're also over the number of his name, which is, which is the essence of. Remember your name Is. Is. Is. Is a, Is. Is, is a revelation of your character. And so the names of God reveal to us the character of God and the number of the name of the Antichrist or this, this artificial intelligence is 666. Six being the number of man three times. So when you have 666, that is man trying to be God, and we have power over that. They overcome it. They overcome, they overcome the beast, they overcome the image, they overcome the mark, and they overcome the power of his name. Okay, so even if you're concerned about all this, it's quite clear in verse two that we have victory over this. And we, we, we, we have, it's totally calm, total peace in the midst of the Holy Spirit. And the beast has no power over us. Not only that, they stand on the sea of glass having harps of God. What are they doing? Well, they're Worshiping. They're worshiping God. The, the, the idea of a harp here is a five string lyre. It's a, it's an instrument and five being the number of grace, it is a picture of the worship of God. They stand notice they're standing on the sea. They're walking on water. They're walking on water. They're standing on this sea. Meaning they're operating the full power that's manifest in Jesus, that's made known to us by Jesus. There are operating in that power and they're worshiping God. Now does that mean worshiping God brings about that power? Well, it, it does. Let me say this. So many people like to break up the worship services in the part they like, the part they don't like. You've got the worship side and then you've got the word side. Some people are really heavily in the Word, some people really heavily in worship. Some people could take one and leave the other. Well, you can't take one and leave the other. You can't do that. That's the way God speaks to your. The aspects of who you are when he speaks to your. When. When we're worshiping by, by. By music and song, we're, we're dealing with our cardio, we're dealing with our, our emotions, our mo. The motive part of who we are. When we worship God with the Word, we're dealing with our sukko. We're dealing with our intellect, our mind and we're worshiping him with both. When we worship with. When, when we worship him in spirit, cardia, in, in truth sukho. Understanding and passion, intellect and emotion, all of them matter together. So many people say well you know that church just emotion based. Well if they're doing true worship they should have some emotion in it. And then other people say, well they're just the frozen chosen. They. All they care about is the word of God. Well, I mean if you're going to have worship, you got to have the word of God. There got to be some intellectual parts to it. There've got to be, there's got to be some, some revelation of the Holy Spirit to your mind, not just to your heart, but to your mind. And so whenever I'm dealing with somebody who's wanting to break those things down into two different parts, I, I just give them the understanding that you can't separate the two. Can I separate my soul? No, I can't separate my soul. Now can I separate my soul from my spirit? Yeah. The word of God does that. It divides it soul and spirit. But those are two different things. Okay, can I separate my emotions and my intellect? I dare say you can't. And even if you think you can, you really can't. Because your emotions are going to be carried by your intellect and your intellect is going to be stymied or brought or brought to its fullness by your emotions. That's some deep stuff and stuff you really do need to understand. But the truth is we overcome by both of those. And you should engage in both to its fullness. You should engage in both to its fullness.
As you go today, I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep.
You, that he'll make his face to.
Shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today. In Jesus name.
