This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.

Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.

I'm also a practicing attorney.

This podcast is designed to help you.

Study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up.

His word to you and allow you.

To see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.

All right,

so remember,

remember.

And remember last week when we talked about this,

that we have a passage here that is the full measure of God's wrath against sin or against not God, really is what I would say to you. It's against all that would come up that is not a part of his will or his way,

and however that manifests itself in the universe, okay?

We do know that the first to sin,

the first person to choose not God's will, was Satan,

and he wanted to be God. And by the way,

ultimately, if you really kind of trace back all sin, it goes back to someone desiring for something or themselves or someone else to be God rather than God,

okay? And so that really is the beginning of all those things. And so when we get to this passage,

it is a.

Well, I mean,

I personally have not always just loved to read through the prophets, okay. And the reason is, is because it's a whole lot of people not doing right, and God pronouncing judgment on them, okay?

And so for me,

if you said what parts of the Bible are not your. The things you don't really spend a whole lot of time just ruminating on, well, you know, the prophets, although I say that, and then Daniel's one of my favorite books in the Bible and Malachi is.

So for our study purposes, I just want you to understand that we are dealing with the fullness of God's judgment against sin. And last week,

I felt like I was really clear in our understanding, because one of the things that has resulted from people wanting to reject God's judgment of sin is that people begin to reject God's Word, okay?

And that historically has begun most of the movements,

most of the movements in Christianity that would move toward what Christians would call, and I'm using a phrase that's a political phrase Christians would call Christian liberalism, okay? And really, there's not a such thing As a Christian, as Christian liberalism in the sense of conservative and liberal as we think of politics,

okay?

There is either a fundamental view of a high view of Scripture, meaning that Scripture is God's word, that it's all, every bit of it is inspired by the Holy Spirit, that when God writes something in His Word that he not only knows what he's saying,

but he is saying it contextually as he is.

And what I mean by that.

Well, what I mean by that is this,

that God is omnipresent,

okay?

And that means he's everywhere,

all the time.

He's everywhere in the world at all times of the world,

okay?

So when the Holy Spirit is,

is working on the heart of Paul to write the book of First Corinthians,

God's right there.

And then he's also here at the same,

what we would call time, but he's here.

His presence coincides with this place just like it did there for him at the same time.

And you say, well,

can you tell me how to understand that? That's why God says a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day.

What he's saying is,

I don't live in the confines of time.

I am omnipresent outside of time.

Okay?

That's not a puzzle.

That's not a.

That's not. In some way, God hadn't not figured that out. He knows exactly what he's saying. It's not a. I was looking for the Word. It's not a riddle.

It's not a riddle by God. When God says a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day, it's not a riddle to him, it's a reality to Him.

Okay?

So when God,

just like yesterday I was explaining something to somebody and they said, well, you know,

well,

can't we say that, you know,

maybe the author of this book and we were in First Timothy,

can we say that maybe he used the wrong word?

No,

we can't. We can't say that because God knows all the words and he knows all the languages and he knows the effect that what he said in first Timothy is going to have to the readers of first Timothy in the first century church and to the readers of first Timothy in THE 21st CENTURY CHURCH,

okay? He knows exactly what that's going to be effect. And he knows the right word to use,

such as.

And oftentimes it's good to use the idea of absurdity to prove a point.

If I read God's word and I read that, I'm to love my neighbor. And my neighbor is really a good looking lady. And I've decided I want to go love on my neighbor.

Okay? Are you following me?

All right,

you can't say that that's what God's word says, because in the Greek,

there's a word for,

you know,

physical love, and that's eros. And there's a word for the word that's used to love your neighbor, and that's agape,

okay? And so God intentionally used agape,

and he intentionally made sure that the Greek language had that word so that you couldn't misuse that word that way.

And so if the Bible is general in a word,

then God's being general in what he says. And if the Bible is super specific with the Word,

then God is being super specific.

So if he uses a word that says men,

and it's anthropos and we translate it men, it's actually men and all humanity, it's the word anthropos. But if he uses the word for man,

he's saying man. And if he's using the word for woman, he's saying woman,

okay? And God knows what he's saying and he knows its effect throughout time and space. And so you can't say that we've somehow progressed past God's word because you're saying you've progressed past God and God.

You hadn't passed God because he's already. He's ahead of you.

He's centuries, if he chooses to carry that long. He's centuries ahead of you. In fact, he's millennia ahead of you.

And so when we come to this, you can't say that, you know, this idea of God's judgment or this idea of hell,

okay,

is an ancient idea that's not true today.

And when churches begin to do things like that, take clear teachings of scripture and reject them and push them aside when they do that,

people will call that liberalism. I would call that heresy,

okay?

I would call that a rejection of the high view of Scripture that the church is supposed to have. Because Scripture is Jesus.

All right? So when we get to these judgments,

God is in absolute judgment of sin.

And those who are not redeemed by the blood of the Lamb are absolutely rejected and in complete judgment for eternity.

They're eternally separated from God.

They're eternally separated from God's goodness.

They are eternally in a place of God's wrath.

Okay?

All right?

Because there's no place that God is. Because if a place exists, who made it?

He did all Right?

So hell is not only a place that exists, it's a place that God made,

All right? And I push that a whole lot because,

look,

Satan is a. Is. Satan is. Is a. Is the deceiver, the ancient deceiver.

And if he can get you to begin to think,

you know, maybe that's not true about God's word,

and, you know, it's not like he ain't done it before.

Y' all do know what he said to Eve in the garden,

right? What did. What did he say to Eve in the garden to begin his deceiving of her?

He said,

did God really say that?

Okay,

and listen, it's been going on ever since.

It's been going on ever since. And whole churches and whole denominations and dare I say, whole groups of people are in hell because of it.

They are in hell because of it.

And when I hear it and people have all.

Listen, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Okay? It doesn't matter if you think your intentions are noble if your intentions are not in line with God's word. They are not noble. They're not righteous,

and they are not good.

They are not good.

And it's hard for Christians to believe that. But as we grow as a church and as we become more and more. Look,

we're not in the business of condemnation.

I'm not trying to condemn you. I'm trying to get you to walk in the light.

My business is not to condemn you. Okay? All right? But I'm also not going to lie to you.

I'm also not going to deceive you and tell you or minimize or minimize the clear teachings of Scripture. I told you, I don't just love the prophets,

but I don't reject the prophets at all. In fact, I'm gonna teach from. I'm gonna give you a verse from one of them tonight. He said, it says in verse 16, then I heard a loud voice from heaven.

Now, notice he says a loud voice,

okay?

It says loud voice a lot in the book of the Revelation.

And the reason it's used, he makes sure that you understand it's a loud voice. What John's telling you is this is not one of those things that can be mistaken.

You know, I thought I heard God say this,

and I could have been wrong, okay?

And what he's really saying here is as we go through these things and talk about these things,

I'm not mistaken as to what God said for me to write down,

okay?

I'm not mistaken about what I saw and heard and that's really important that you see that. John,

this old man who we were studying his book,

his gospel, this old man's letting you know,

I know what I saw.

I know what I heard.

I know what happened.

He said, I heard a loud voice from the temple saying, now it's coming from the temple. So we don't know who it's coming from, but it is a loud voice,

and it could be Jesus himself.

It could be one of the angels from the throne. I don't know. It doesn't really matter if it's an angel from the throne. It's a messenger from God. He's speaking God's word and God's will anyway.

So oftentimes people will say,

well, you know, an angel said that. So we're not, you know,

we can question that. No, he can't.

Because the word angelos is just a transliteration. The word angel is a transliteration of the word angelos. And the reason is, is because there was a desire to worship these beings.

And so they wanted to give them a special name.

By the way, just letting you know, when scripture was beginning to be translated, there were certain words that they did not translate. They transliterated. And the reason they did that is so that either they could keep their heads,

okay? Because some of the things that the early church was doing was not scriptural, okay. Or they wanted to continue to profit from those words. And one of the things that happens regularly in the church, and by the way, we're going to deal with this in pretty deep detail next week.

In the next couple weeks. One of the things that goes on is angel worship.

Okay?

And there's one angel that loves to be worshiped. In fact, he wanted to be worshiped.

His name's Satan. Okay? So it's not like. That's not something that was in the universe before we were here. It says, I heard a loud voice in the temple saying to the seven angels.

Remember, the word for seven is a word for completion. So this is gonna be a complete work.

To the seven angels or to the seven messengers,

go and pour out the bowls.

The word censor bowl.

Okay? These are the utensils used in.

In the temple for worship. Okay. What do they hold normally?

The prayers of the saints. Okay. All right, So I want you to hear me. It's not a sad thing that God's doing,

okay? He's not being God here. And then on the side,

he is. He is. He is. He is pouring out his wrath.

This is coming from the temple and from the throne room,

okay? It's coming from the temple and from the throne room,

which means we cannot diminish it.

I don't know if y' all notice it or not, but I'm pushing this pretty heavy, right?

We cannot diminish it.

I want you to hear me. We will not diminish it. We will not ever.

I may need to explain it to you, but we're not going to diminish it.

Okay? I'm not going to tell you. Well, I don't believe that that's true. I may explain it to you in a depth that you've never seen it,

but that won't be to diminish it. That will be to understand it.

Does that make sense to you? And there's going to be something here I'm going to get to. And you'll kind of get it, and you'll see it. Okay?

Because some of the things that you believe you were taught,

but they're not com. They're either wrong or they're not scripture or they're incomplete. Does that make sense?

All right.

As you go today, I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep.

You, that he'll make his face to shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
