This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.

Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.

I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.

I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day,

especially today in Jesus name.

He says,

because you have judged these things, which means you know what's going on and you make righteous judgments. You're just.

For. They have shed the blood of the saints and the prophets.

And you have given them blood to drink.

Yep.

You've given them their own death to take in.

He's saying, I've been watching this thing since it started,

and you're right to give them the death they deserve.

I can't resist. So I'm going. I'm going to take you to it.

Because, by the way,

notice.

Y' all remember John six, I think it is.

Jesus said, unless you eat of my flesh and drink of my blood, you can have no part in me.

Many disciples left him. This was a hard teaching.

Who can understand it,

right?

Jesus said to the disciples, after that, are y' all going to leave me?

Peter has one of his stellar moments.

Peter says,

where shall we go? Into whom shall we go? You have the words of life,

right?

You're the ones. You're the author of life.

Where we gonna go?

He says, unless you eat of my flesh and take of my life,

you can have no part in me.

Meaning you got to have me or there is no life and you have to have me in my totality.

Don't you hear me?

So many people say, well, what are we going to do?

I mean, that's what that really. It got down to that People, people just kept coming up to him once they realized the enormity of God, saying, I need to have all of him.

Well, how are we going to have you, God?

How am I ever going to have all of God?

I'm just this little broken vessel scurrying around on this little planet in this little solar system,

in this relatively small universe,

I mean, galaxy,

you know, there's some stars that are bigger than our whole solar system,

And there's galaxies,

billions of them.

If you've never looked at where they really got in close with the new satellite, the new.

The new telescope satellite. Have y' all ever done that? How many y' all ever looked at that? Raise your hand if you've not done that.

You.

Put. Put in there galaxies found by new satellite.

It'll show, like,

this direction,

and then literally, like, if there was a panorama here,

and it'll like the head of this right here,

that little thing.

Think of this whole stage as a panorama of the universe in that direction,

okay?

And it'll focus in on a section of the panorama about this big.

And when they focused in on,

had billions of stars,

and they thought, man, there are more stars in our galaxy than we thought y' all ever had binoculars on.

And you focus just a little bit more.

And when they focused in a little bit more,

they realized that those billions of stars were not stars.

They were galaxies.

And those galaxies had billions of stars.

And he spoke it into existence by saying, let there be light.

And that angel said,

if you're not going to walk in his grace.

And.

We'Ve watched y' all walk in it,

then God, you're right to judge them.

You're just to say that they deserve death.

That's right.

So many people struggle with this.

And the reason you struggle with it, and I'm going to tell you why. Because there are many in this room that struggle with it.

Preacher, you teaching that God decides? Yes,

I am teaching that God decides.

Oh, very good, Kenneth. He didn't. God does not decide.

He's already decided.

All right,

now hear me on this.

Hear me on this.

My little bitty granddaughter,

Eleanor,

better known as Nora.

Who do I want deciding on Eleanor's eternity?

Do I want Eleanor to decide?

She don't know what's going on.

And when I hold her in my arms,

I know relatively less. I mean, just relatively more than she does.

What if I decide wrong?

So. So I don't need to decide.

There's only one who's just and righteous to decide,

and that's God.

I will say this.

He's a good, good God.

He decides according to his divine will and according to his revelation to humanity.

You and you go, how do you know past? I know this is controversial for a lot of Christians.

Listen to me,

Pastor. You teaching that Calvinism stuff? No, I'm not. Okay?

I'm not. I'm teaching that Bible stuff,

okay?

I want you to hear me today.

I want God and his decisions,

period.

And I want to figure out how I can get in the middle of those Decisions.

And that will.

Because I know if it's left up to me,

I'll wander off lickety split.

So I need him to be him so that I can be with him.

And I'm good with that.

And you go, when we get to heaven,

are we going to know who's there and who ain't there?

Well, the Bible says you'll know even as you're fully known.

You go, well, how can I do that if you know Nanny Paul or whoever is not there?

Because you will see things as he sees things,

which will be from a perfect perspective.

You'll see things as this angel sees things. This angel turns to God and he says, God, you killing all these folks. Why are you doing that?

I thought you was a God of love.

He is that angel who is watched all of time,

who's watched everything,

turns to him and says,

you're right to decide this.

And when you give them death, that's what they deserve.

I'm telling you,

there is great peace that comes with that.

I don't have to worry about getting into heaven or being okay with God.

I don't have to save you or fix you.

Or say the right thing to you.

I say the wrong thing to you all the time.

I want you to hear me.

Because it ain't about me,

it's about him.

See, when I place all of it on him and I just say, well, I'm surrendering to you.

It's all, all of it's in your court. You in charge of it all.

I know who you are and I can trust that. I can't trust me and nobody else I've run into.

When I get to that place,

there's great deliverance from that.

You mean all I got to do is use my gift and be life to people and let God do God's stuff?

Yeah.

And in the end I'm going to be good with it. Uh huh.

And he's going to have done a perfect job.

Yeah. Yeah.

And when I get up there and I'm talking to that angel that said that, I'm going to go, you was right.

Even in the midst of judgment,

even in the midst of God's chastisement of myself,

I can say,

you're right.

That's that whole conversation he had with Job, right?

He said, did you make the universe?

He points to things that Job knew. He said, can you make the wind blow?

You make trees grow?

Do you create the oceans?

Can you make it rain?

Can you build the little machines?

What factory did they come from?

I hope they're not from Japan. We'll all be dead soon.

Sorry. China.

I mean, they ain't even got good warranties on that stuff.

Y' all ever taken something to the thing and they said, would you like a warranty on it? Flipped it over. Made in China.

Yeah.

I'm saying that because if you get it once you get it,

once you get it, then you realize all I'm doing is just being a vessel of him,

and it's great.

Verse seven real quick.

Oh,

into verse six.

For it's their just do.

Isn't that what he said?

Verse 6. Into verse 6, he says, for they shed the blood of the saints and the prophets. By the way, that's speaking of Old Testament and New Testament.

You do know that, right?

For they shed the blood of the saints and the prophets, and you've given them blood to drink.

It's their just due.

If I were going to give you a political passage,

I'll give you 1.

Isaiah 49:26 is the only other place where it speaks of eating the blood of death.

It says, I'll feed those who oppress you. This is God speaking to Israel.

I'll feed those who oppress you with their own flesh.

And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine.

All flesh shall know that I'm the Lord and am your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty one of Jacob,

which is speaking Jacob, when he says Jacob, he's talking about Israel,

the Jewish people in their sin.

When he speaks to them as them of Israel, he's speaking to them as.

As they are redeemed.

Are you following me?

When you're reading in the Bible and he calls Israel Jacob, he is talking about their fleshly sinful state.

When he calls them Israel, he's talking about their redeemed holy Spirit,

perfected state.

Are you with me?

Jacob means thief and liar,

okay? And that's why when he's wrestling with the.

By the way, there's another one when he's wrestling with the angel of the Lord,

And the angel of the Lord kept asking him to say,

what's your name?

And this angel,

who, if you were to give him a name,

is J E S U S.

When Jacob finally says, my name is Jacob, which he was saying, I'm a thief and a liar. My name is thief and liar.

He says, nope, your name's not that anymore.

Why? Because you've come to terms with me.

Your name's Israel, and I'm going to touch your hip so you'll always remember it.

You're not going to be able to walk right anymore.

Because if you wrestle with Hulk Hogan, that ain't going to work out for you. Okay.

All right.

And now I'm going to call you Israel the Redee.

Okay.

He says to those who oppress Jacob,

you will eat of your own flesh and you shall drink of your own blood as with sweet wine.

If you'll do a little bit of study about that.

People who have a desire to destroy the Jews,

they will get a theology about them,

which there's a bunch of them in the world right now. Yeah.

Where they would be, will. They'd rather their own children and their own families to die than the Jews live.

Just truth.

Just the truth.

So they would rather the drink, drink of the blood of death than have the Jews live.

So they drink it like sweet wine. They'd eat their own flesh and drink of their own blood.

Just letting you know,

let that wash over you a little bit. And by the way, if you're trying to say that ain't talking about that. He says, oh, God of.

Not Israel,

Jacob.

There's no way to get around that. It's Jacob.

He's not talking about spiritual Israel. He's talking about sinful Jacob.

Make sense?

Just letting you know. Verse 7.

And I heard another from the altar saying,

another angel, by the way.

Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments.

What he's saying is,

I agree,

you did it right.

You did it right. I agree with you.

What he said,

That's pretty cool, isn't it?

Now, I want you to hear me, because we're in the middle. This is really right.

I've told y'. All, I don't just love the Old Testament prophets,

you know what I'm saying? If you said, pick the categories of the Bible that I love the most,

last is the prophets.

And really the major prophets,

because they don't ever get it right.

Folks is doing wrong, and then they have to come and the prophet has to say, quit doing it wrong. And you know what I'm talking about. It's just doing it wrong.

And you know, I get tired of that,

personally,

me doing it wrong all the time. God having to call me out to the potter's house and,

oh, I'm just tired. I tired. I don't like doing it.

I mean, Paul said, the things I want to do, I don't do, and things I don't want to do, keep on doing,

you know.

So when he says, you know,

they killed the saints and the prophets,

meaning this is not Just about the New Testament.

It's about it. All this judgment is a complete judgment of everything.

But I can take great joy in knowing that it's not the product of a malicious mind.

It's the product of a good mind,

God's mind.

And I can be okay with that.

I can.

And if you can ever get come to terms with God Sovereign,

he's the maker of all things,

so he's right to do his will as he sees fit.

There's great peace in that.

Because all of a sudden it takes all the onus off me. I don't have to fix anything. I just got to love God and do what he says and let him be God and I just be me.

Which is great.

You go, but I'm worried about so and so. Don't be worried about them.

I don't come from God anyway.

You can't. Look, if you got somebody in your family you worried about. How many y' all got somebody in your family worried about?

All right, listen to me.

If you worry about them,

just logically is worry from God.

All right,

so is your worry going to fix anything?

It ain't,

is it?

But might God fix something?

And has he given me something that is purely from him that if used, would be his presence in the world around me, which would include them that I live in.

Yeah.

So if I function in my spiritual gift without worry or anxiousness,

is there a really good opportunity for God to be God?

Yeah.

Otherwise he going to have to get you out of the way to get it done.

I know, but if you're using your spiritual gift, you're not.

And I'm going to tell you,

I. I don't look for chances to talk to somebody. I look for when the Holy Spirit's moving.

Somebody say, you got to go talk to him right now,

I'm sitting there going,

now, a person told me that.

Did you say that God?

Sometimes, yes.

Most time, no. Most time they're telling me that out of fear or worry,

right?

But I'll be walking, dealing with something, doing my thing, right? Somebody else say something. All of a sudden you see the Holy Spirit say, get on that right there,

right?

And when he says, get on that right there,

boom.

I know the Holy Spirit's in the middle of it. Get to work.

Right?

But once I do it, I have to let God be God.

He's the author of the results, Right.

He gets to decide the results.

And I don't want to be in charge of the results anyway. I'm terrible at it. Terrible.

Amen.

All right. What a great night, right? It's a good night. Good night. In God's word, Good night. Just think through it. Listen, for all you visitors. And we got a ton of them tonight, okay?

This is your second, third time being here.

Listen,

I want you to hear this because it's important.

I am going to deal with God's word.

You following me,

which means I'm not going to sidestep anything.

You following me,

which means I'm going to talk about the hard stuff.

And I'm not going to hide from it because if I just make it about unicorns and rainbows. Are you following me?

Cotton candy and Ferris wheels.

You're not going to grow.

That's right. I got to give you. I got to give it to you, which means sometimes you're going to sit there and listen to me because you're sinful.

And because God is perfect,

he is sometimes going to offend you with his word.

It's going to offend your sin nature.

I'm going to tell you. I've been. Today, I've been preaching. He been offending me while I was talking.

I was being offended.

Okay?

It's okay.

I would rather God speak to me and offend my sin nature than to have never heard his truth,

okay?

So we got to hear it. We got to deal with it.

And if you have a trouble. If you have trouble with something with God, here's a cool thing he says, come to me.

Just come and deal with me about it. Let's talk about it.

Let's sit down and counsel.

Let's worry about it. Let's work it out here.

And I promise you, if you ever get to a place where you run across something in God's word that TR you struggle with,

that's a great opportunity. Do you see God in a new way?

So struggle with it. Don't run from it.

I'm not going to run from it because I know it. I know when you struggle with God's word, it changes you.

I know that it changes you. So wrestle with him and he might touch your hip.

Okay.

But he might give you a new name.

And I'm going to tell you,

Jacob's a cool name right now because nobody knows what it means.

But back then, Jacob was not a great name.

Okay? It's kind of like being named Cornbread or something. You know what I'm talking about? I mean, if you're cornbread, you're destined to be fat, right?

You are. Really?

Of course. Every Smalls I've ever known was huge. All right,

so.

And Tiny. Every smalls and Tiny was bigger than me, right?

Big man's five foot two. All right.

As you go today, I pray that.

The Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
