This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life.
Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years.
I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life.
I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day,
especially today in Jesus name.
Nature is described by this name,
and I use it in an empty or vain or wrong way.
More importantly, if I attribute to that to Jesus something that's clearly out of line with his name,
then I am taking his name in vain or better described. I am blaspheming.
Are you following me?
All right, I'm blaspheming because I am.
I am taking something that is clearly the fullness of his character in its description, and I am attributing to it. Either it's worthless or it's empty,
or I am just straight up saying things about it that ain't true.
Are you following me?
That's blasphemy. That's why when Jesus was standing before the high pr. The chief priest.
Are you following me?
And the only time he spoke in. In regard.
Now, he spoke to Pilate several times.
Why? Because Pilate didn't understand.
And so he wanted Pilate to understand what was going on.
The chief priest knew exactly what he was going on. What was going on. He said, it's better for one man to perish than a whole nation.
Okay? So he intended Jesus to be a sacrifice. And in fact, by saying that, he fulfilled the prophecy of the priesthood, sacrificing Jesus as the chief sacrifice.
All right?
When he said, are you the Son of God?
Jesus said, you will see me sitting at the right hand of the power of in heaven.
All right?
He says, are you the Son of God? Which would be a name of God,
because scripture says talks about the Son of God,
the Old Testament scripture does.
Jesus said,
I'm him. I'll sit at the right hand of the power.
Now, I want you to hear me.
There's only two solutions to this problem. There's a third one. We're going to throw it out. Either Jesus could have been crazy and not knowing what he's doing, but I'm just telling you he did too many.
Without Christianity have fundamentally altered the world.
Okay, so he's not nuts.
All right, so then the other two things have to be one of the other two things have to be true. He has to know that he was wrong and he was intentionally lying.
Right?
Or he was right.
All right?
Now,
the chief priest considered that he was wrong and that he was attributing to the Son of God himself, which would have been making. Making an attribution of God. That's not true.
Are you following me?
So he said he's blasphemed and he sent him to death. Now,
did his pronunciation of blasphemy settle the matter?
Was Jesus necessarily because the chief priest said he's a blasphemer? Was he necessarily a blasphemer because chief priest said so?
Okay, well, I'm going to tell you. Yes, he was.
If he sent him to the cross, he hung on the cross, he died, and that was the end of it,
then he was.
Okay.
But if,
as a result of the chief priest pronouncing him to be a blasphemer,
he proves that he is the Son of God,
then the chief priest is wrong.
Right?
So legally speaking, from a Jewish perspective,
was it absolute after he said he'd blaspheme, after Jesus said he'd be sitting at the right hand of the power of God, was it absolutely.
It was absolutely necessary that he be crucified right.
From both sides.
Be a blasphemer that he was not the Son of God, then he had to be crucified. If Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, he had to fulfill the role of the Son of God, which we went through in great detail in Isaiah 53 last Sunday, right?
He had to fulfill the role of being the Son of God. And so it was necessary that he go to the cross too.
Yeah.
Remember the high priest and knew that he rode in on the donkey? He knew who. He knew who he was. He did. He did. Brett's right. He knew who he was,
all right? He knew he was the Son of God.
He did not trust in him as the Son of God.
All right?
Now I'm telling you all that so that you understand. Blasphemy,
okay? Blasphemy is more than saying,
oh, God,
are you with me?
It's more than that.
That would be, in a very mild sense, taking the name of the Lord in emptiness is blasphemy because he is merciful.
Okay? If I say that God is not good,
which would be very hard to say. Because we get the word good from God.
Okay. All right. If I were to say that God, at his nature, is not good, but he is raw, he is evil,
okay? I would be blaspheming God.
All right? I want you to hear me.
It's. It's. It's not as terrible as you think,
because Jesus said that you could blaspheme him and you could blaspheme the Father,
but if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit,
the act of blaspheming the Holy Spirit would not be forgiven in this age or the age to come.
Okay, well, what does he mean by that? Well, you can blaspheme me and not believe that I'm the son of God.
James did. He's the writer, one of the writers of the New Testament. The Apostle Paul did. He was clearly one of the writers of the New Testament.
Wrote over half the New Testament. He didn't believe Jesus was Son of God at one point in time. So he blasphemed the truth of who God was.
But he said,
you cannot believe.
And listen, you cannot believe in the Father, but if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit's the one who actually comes in and leads you to understand who God is, then you've removed the only thing,
the only way to know who God is.
Are y' all getting this at all?
These. This is a legal argument. That's very important.
Okay? It is very important.
So Jesus said, you can blaspheme me? You can blaspheme. What did they say?
You're the son of the Lord of the Flies. You're a son of Beelzebub,
right?
You can do that.
In fact, you can not say. You can say God is a God,
but if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit, you've cut off any way of ever figuring out the truth.
So you're done.
No way to do it. If you're not gonna listen to the Holy Spirit, there ain't no way in,
okay? Because the Holy Spirit's gonna point you to the gate.
Only way to go through the gates, to know that the gate's the gate,
right?
So this woman who rides the beast mischaracterizes the truth of who God is. She's got many words of blasphemy written on her.
Now, you gotta get. That's what that means.
What it means is you are being told things that are not true or that are attributing aspects of God that are not presented in his word. Now, I want you to hear Me.
The high level is to say God is not this, when clearly the Bible says he is, or God is this. And when clearly the Bible says he's not,
the mid level, the low level is to, you know, cuss when you, you know, a deer runs out in front of him and you slammed on brakes.
Okay? That's like down here at the bottom.
All right?
The mid level.
The mid level of blasphemy. When I say the mid level, I'm talking about it's a problem.
The mid level of blasphemy is to take God's word and deny it.
And you say, why is that mid level, Chad? Well, because the top level is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit and can't ever come to a knowledge of go.
The mid level is you hear God's word and you just reject it for whatever reason.
The reason I say it's mid level because I preach every Sunday morning. I see guys, people out there in the crowd, they hear God's word. I can tell they know what I'm talking about.
And I also can tell they ain't gonna do it.
You know what I'm saying? And that's blasphemy because I've heard from God and I've rejected it or I've attributed as something that I don't need to do. Which means it's empty,
right?
It's empty.
Has no.
It doesn't have the weight it should have.
If God tells. Look, if, If. If Larry tells you to do something, that's Larry telling you to do something, all right? We like Larry. Larry's an elder. You probably ought to listen to Larry,
but he's still Larry. I ain't gonna lie to you. Larry's gonna die. I'm gonna die, you're gonna die. We all going away.
All right?
Now, the Holy Spirit, he died.
And God's word, not the one jot or tittle of his word shall ever pass,
right?
So it ain't going away.
So if I reject clear revelation of God, well, that's a problem.
Now you're gonna get many shots at it. He's a God of the second, third, and really 70 times 7 chances,
right?
But it's definitely a problem if you don't do it.
All right, That's. That's when I say mid.
Remember, it's all sin.
But some of it has greater consequence than others.
Okay? Some of it has.
Some of it. Some of it causes things that can't be.
Some of it causes things that's going to be very hard to fix.
Okay,
but remember, with God all things are possible. Right?
All right, he says, so he carried away in the spirit to the wilderness. I saw a woman on Scarlet. Beast. All right, Scarlet means.
Scarlet always is, appointing to the blood.
All right, so this beast kind of has a picture of.
It's got a. It's got this. It kind of looks like Christianity,
but it's a beast having seven heads and 10 horns.
That points us back to that.
That dragon.
Okay,
so she's riding. This woman is riding Satan.
Now here's the question. And we don't know,
is she on Satan and just holding on for dear life?
Satan's doing whatever he wants to do. Or. Or is she controlling Satan?
Now? That's the question.
Okay,
now if you said,
well, nobody controls Satan,
you need to hear me. This woman is a product of Satan's desires.
This religion is a desire. Is. Is the product of Satan's desire to be worshiped.
Okay,
so is Satan controlled by her or does she just be led about by him?
It's my opinion that she controls him because Satan's desire is to be worshiped by.
It has some Rome to it too.
All right,
Purple's royalty. Remember, Scarlet is a picture of the blood,
the blood of Jesus.
Okay,
so her covering.
And remember,
we're going back to AI, Right?
I know some of y' all have not. And I'm not talking about artificial intelligence. When I say AI, it's a I, AI.
Okay, all right,
the. The. When I talk about AI, what was the sin of AI? What did Achan do?
He took the devoted things, the things that were of God, the things that were set aside for God in a sacrifice. It would have been the. It would have been the fat of the sacrifice.
He took the devoted things, the gold and the silver,
and he hid it under what,
a Babylonian garment with the silver on bottom.
Okay,
that's not by accident that it's described. Okay, it's not by accident. God doesn't put anything in here by accident.
Okay?
He doesn't throw in there.
I can't. Superfluous that word.
Information.
Okay,
listen,
if I can't say way right, you know I can't say superfluous, right? All right,
you say. I thought you went to Princeton. Yeah, I went. And I tell you how well I did.
As you go today, I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
