Hope Alive: Applying God’s Word to Your Daily Life

The Revelation 18:7-8

I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.

In the measure that she's glorified herself and lived luxuriously in the same measure give her torment and sorrow. For she says, in our heart, I sit as queen and am no widow, and I will not see sorrow. Okay, now that's the rabbit hole that people get into with the worship of a female deity. Okay, all right. That has some clothing that looks like Christianity. Okay, all right. That's that rabbit hole that you can go down. Okay. And that is a rabbit hole. But I. I tend to think that this. The false religion setting herself up to be God, Just. Just as that's the whole purpose of the religion was to bring. Worship. God to present the. The beast out of the sea is Jesus to. To present the beast out of the land, which is. Which is also the. The false prophet as the Holy Spirit. That seems to have life for itself, that seems to get that life from the. The false prophet. Okay, Becomes. And it will become. The religion is going to bring along a group of people, a people that. Now that makes you think, don't it? Because you're going to have to worship the beast and the dragon. And if you don't, you can't be a part of anything. Therefore, her plagues will come in one day, death and mourning and famine, and she will be utterly burned with fire. For strong is the Lord God who Christ to destroy the false religion of ancient paganism. So who but who's the one God sovereignly in control? So many times. So many times we deal with people who. Who. Who. Who refuse to allow their mind to rest in the understanding that God is sovereign. And that is a desire to control things yourself. And by the way, there is a spirit of control. He wants to get where he's running the what, the show. How many. Y' all got a dog that thinks they run the show? Okay, well, that's a picture of a demon. All right. He wants To. I'm not saying your dog's a demon. I'm saying it's symbolic of a demon. Okay. And the canine species is okay. The all canines are all right. And, and if you'll think about it. All right. Huh. You know what's interesting about, about cats is they're not in the Bible, I guess. You guess? Lines are. Elephants aren't though. Just letting you know. Lions and tigers and bears, Death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire. For strong is the Lord God who judges her. So God's wrath is ultimately going to be brought about and going to finish her off. And you go, well, we're just replacing one bad thing with another bad thing. Sure. Okay. Until Jesus has totally taken control and set up his one world and he's going to have a one world government too. So, so many times people say, well, I don't believe in, I don't believe in a monarchy. Well, I do. I just don't want but one king, right? All right. So many times people say, well, I believe in communism, but the one king's got to be in charge of it or it ain't any good. Okay? So I don't want it to happen until he gets here. All right? And as you go through certain things, certain things, remember, the devil does not come up with his own stuff. He's not a creative being. You know, it's him who is a part of his creation and man that is creative. All right? The devil's not creative. What God has done. And if you take it back and give it to God, Right? It's, it's, it's, it's something that's, that could, could be positive, but it's not going to be. The light that that angel is, is emitting that, the light that comes from God. And so when we, when we, when we study through scripture and when we kind of look at all this stuff, you begin to realize that, you know, there's some, there's some things out there that just are clear patterns that God does. That's why it's very applicable. That's why Scripture is very relevant for today. Okay? It's very relevant for today because the macro things you see happening actually occur micro in your life. They, they go on, they go on in your life and they work their way out in your life. That's why I can teach through Isaiah or teach through Joshua or teach through Deuteronomy and see some clear patterns that are relevant to where I'm at. Even though they were written 3,000 years ago. Okay? They're very relevant for today. How the enemy responds and how that works in my life is always going on, it's always true, is always happening. In the wrong spot. You're always in the right spot. You just got to find God. What's relevant for me, how does this affect me today? And if you read long enough, you'll find something. When you find it, it's your nugget for the day, okay? You don't have to get all the nuggets. You're not going to get all the nuggets, okay? You're just not. You ain't going to. And I mean, you could study it, study a verse, a nugget for today. Meditating on his word, thinking about it, considering it, allowing God to deal with you. And. We teach it in our Christian churches a lot. You know, just come down front and everything gonna be all right. Right? It's the, it's the, it's the miracle. Christianity. And Christianity is a miracle, but salvation is a problem. Can change overnight, but the change takes a long, long time. A long, long time. That nothing is working out for you. What you need to do is, well, the same thing. In my favorite investment, when in doubt, zoom out. In the temporal. Right now it looks like, oh, it's never. This is not working. But if you'll zoom out, my favorite asset, if you zoom out, it's always. You. If you look at like the past three days, well, it might have been rough past three days. You know, you might have been on the sea and you know, you had a big old storm blow up. Okay, well, in a three day, in a three day look back, you might say, well, I don't even know where Jesus is. Okay, I understand that. But if you'll zoom out and say, okay, 10, you know, when I first came to Christ 10 years ago, where was I at and where am I at now? If you in doubt, zoom out, get a better. Get a. Enlarge your picture of what's going on. Look back and say, am I near as. And I'll say this, finally, the pastor that was pastor of the church that I started my ministry in, we started having breakfast with each other after I came back and started the church here over in Montgomery. And I was in my mid-30s. And he said to me, because, you know, things were just rough. It was just, you. Know. Yeah. And I said more, I thought about it, I said, yeah, that was rough. And 20s was real rough. All right. And then he said, Your 60 is going to be better than that. He says, he says, he said. And, you know, that wouldn't. That would always be true. It wouldn't always be true in the very short term. But in the long term, if you walk with God, I found that it really is true. It really is. I wouldn't go back. I might go back to junior high school for a little bit. Nobody else wants to go to junior high school. If I could go back to, like. No, no, it's not. The first few years we were married because we were in New Jersey. All right? So that's not the way it was. It was. I felt like I. I felt like I was in. In the wilderness for a long time. You just came to join me there. All right. First two years were. So I took up 150 of it myself. You know, we couldn't open the oven door and go to the bathroom at the. You know, if you can't open the oven door and go to the bathroom at the same time, you're in a little apartment. All right, so. So I do want you to see things. See things from God's perspective. I guess that's the whole point of what I was saying. Let's. Let's pray.

As you go. Today I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you. That he'll make his face to shine upon you that. And that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
