Hope Alive: Applying God’s Word to Your Daily Life

The Revelation 18:22-24

I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today, in Jesus name.

Now, notice this because this is important and probably the reason I, in my mind, I switched to God's grace when I was teaching this to talk about it. It's probably. It comes from this verse. Notice the sound of harpists and musicians and flutists and trumpet trumpeters shall not be heard anymore. So the joy of worship. And by the way, let me. Let me just. I. I can't get mad past this. Okay, Listen to me, because I preached on this the other day. There's people come to church and they like the worship. They love the worship and they like the Word. And there are people who come to church and they love the Word and they. Okay, little person, are you following me? And that's a left brain, right brain thing. Okay? It's a soul thing. If you like logic and things like that, then you're more likely to like the Word. And if you like, if you have. If you're more emotionally oriented, you're gonna like what? The worship. Okay. All right. Now, in scripture, who would you say in the Old Testament is the man that embodies or is the greatest picture of Christ? David. Now let's real quick talk about David. Okay. All right. What is David best known for? Well, that would. That's not what he's best known for. If I ask in the world, what is David known for? He was a killer of Goliath. In fact, they sang a song about him. Right? Saul had killed his thousands. David killed his ten thousands. Okay, so he was a great, what, warrior? He was also a great worshiper. Okay? And I don't want you to miss out on. On. On experience God in his fullness, because a lot of people, when they come. Well, I'm gonna just do the worship. I can't wait to hear what Chad's got to say. And other people go, and I want to just whoop and holler. And then you know, we'll see. If God talks to me in the word, you can't do. You can't do half and half. You can't come to worship and do half and half. Look, I'm as least musically oriented as anybody in the room. Are you following me? When they talk about octaves and tenors and harmonies and, you know, I had no idea what that is. I literally the other day, about two weeks ago, said, okay, I'm going to sit down. I'm going to learn some music. And he did that. You know, these notes are the ones on the lines, and these notes are the ones not on the line. And after about 20 minutes, I said, well, Jesus, if I gotta know that, you just don't have to give it to me. Because I ain't learning that. I ain't sitting here learning that. I just ain't doing it. I mean, it's boring. I had no idea. It's like you might well just be talking in Aramaic to me. I have no clue what's going on. But I learned something as a young man, and that is that worship when God's young me, when God's men worship, it's powerful. It's powerful. And when they don't. You don't get. Get from the word what you think you get from the word. I don't care whether you sing or not. You better be singing. I don't care if you got any rhythm or not. You probably need to sway a little bit, you know what I'm talking about? And you go, what are you talking about? Some men are looking around like that ain't true. Well, let me tell you the story.

Of David.

My favorite story of that. David went to get the ark from the. From the Philistines, okay? And when he went to get the ark, the ark was made with such that a pole could be inserted on both ends and it could be carried on the shoulders of human beings, meaning the presence of God would be carried on the shoulders of human beings, okay? And so when he showed up to get the ark, he didn't do it the right way. He put the ark on a cork carried by an ox and an ox. And Bible always in the picture of the flesh. So the car was being drove by the flesh. And so they were bringing it back to Jerusalem. And one of David's best friends was right by the ox cart, and the ox stumbled in the cart and shook. And he reached up to steady the arm, and you couldn't touch the arm, and it killed him. And David got mad and he left the he left the ark at the house nearest to where that happened. And he went on mad at God. He went on mad with. And the presence of God left him. The presence not left him fully. So he was not in the grace of God. He was. He was in. He was in Labeller. But the guy who had the ark at this house was getting rich. I mean, all his goats were producing two and three baby goats. All his chickens, more chickens, all his sheep, more sheep. I mean, the dude was getting rich. I mean it just. In just short period of time, he went from having this much to him. And David realized that he'd left the presence of God. And the reason he left the presence God because he wasn't willing to do what God says, which means God's words and more. All right. So when he went to get the. When he went to get the ark, he said, I'm not going to rely on flesh anymore. And so every six steps, six is the number of man. They sacrificed an Oz all the way back home for 20 miles. Or 20 miles. And when he got back to the city, he danced before the Lord with justice und his own and his wife. Michael was not happy with God. She sent word to him that he was. He was acting shamefully. He wouldn't act like king. She was the daughter of Saul the king before him, which means that she was the bride to the. If Jesus's picture of Christ, then she would be a picture of the. The church. So when she shamed David, David said, your womb's going to be closed and you're not going to have the fear of God anymore. And her womb was floating. He could do that because he never went into her. You know, A church that's unwilling to worship God will not experience the bridegroom as he is. It's not going to. And the person in the book isn't either. It just ain't gonna have to. And so one of the great graces God gives us. I'm talk more about it next week. I promise myself all the finish. I'm a more finished. If you got to go, you got to go. Hold. I gotta finish. You gotta have you got. You gotta sing. Yes, ma'. Am. I ain't got but two more verses. Come on. I believed in me. I don't made it through six. All right. He says no craftsman of any craft shall be found in you anymore. And the sound of the millstone shall not be heard in you anymore. Notice there's nothing good going to be made anymore. There's going to be no joy in worship, there's no going to be no productivity. There's going to be no bread because the millstone is going to quit. All the good things that come from God. All the grace that comes from God. It's not anymore. It's a very sad verse. The light of the lamp shall not shine anymore. Which means that Jesus says the light of the world doesn't shine anymore until he comes back. You go, when's that Next chapter, it's going to be good. Okay? Next chapter, it's going to be real good. And the voice of the bridegroom and the bride shall not be heard in you anymore. Which means this one world system was getting the grace of God in worship and the joy of God. They were getting the experience. They were getting to experience the productivity of God. They were getting experienced the bread of life. They were getting to experience the light that is in the world. He is the light of the world. They were getting to experience all that common grace. What does it say about it? It's gone. And you won't hear from the bride of the bridegroom anymore. Meaning the church is gone. God's people are gone. God's presence is gone. He says, are your merchants. Were the great men of the earth provide the sorcery. All the nations were deceived. Remember that word for sorcery is the word pharmacy. Okay? It's the word we get pharmaceuticals from. Okay. So they make the world known to God that they need to sorcerer. That's a lesson to be learned. By the way, if you are trying to get peace from a substance, it will not fail you. And then it was found the blood of the prophets and the saints and all who were slain on re earth. Meaning that she's been the source of most of the problem. And she's totally just floored. There. I did it. You see that? All right. I want you. I want to get through this for a couple reasons. I got to get through. So we're running quick. And we're running quick. It's going to be few months before we're done. But I need to finish it. But secondly, next week we're going to be talking about somebody coming. The king coming. Not next week. We're going to be thanking the king. Thank. Not next week. We're not going to church next Wednesday night. But after that we're gonna spend about three weeks with skin coming. Okay? It's going to be Jesus riding on the white horse. And the stars of the sky go dark and the sun is blotted out and all you can see is the Lord of hosts leading his mighty army. It's gonna be great. And you're going to be in that army and you're gonna be riding one of them horses. It's gonna be fun to come back because we're gonna be have been with the bridegroom for, in my estimation, seven years. We're gonna have the wedding feast of the Lamb, and we're gonna have spent seven years learning and knowing and growing and seeing and understanding and walking. And then when we come back, we're gonna be something else. Now I'm talking about something else. And it's going to be fun. So. Well, then it's not vengeance. Then he takes control. When he goes, it's not vengeance. He's going to set things perfectly right. And he's going to rule. And he's going to rule for a thousand years on the earth. And he shall reign forever and Amen. So that's what we got coming up. Looking forward to it. I know y' all looking forward.

As you go today. I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
