The Revelation 20:2

I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.

The angels got the key to the bottomless pit. Now, if that amazes you at all. Okay, this ought to really just totally knock your socks off. Okay, this angel, not a mighty angel, not a mighty angel. Laid hold of the dragon, That serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan. Now, I want you to hear me foreign. It's very alliterative. The verse calls him the serpent. Satan, the devil of old. The serpent of old. All those things. Now, when the Bible tells you that using all the names, they're trying to make sure you don't to come up with something else. Now I want you to listen to me. The. The. The. The entity that this angel grabs hold of. Now get. This is the. Is the devil. You're going. Preacher, you are getting a great grasp on the obvious. Because this is obvious. I told y' all when we got to chapter 19 that we start getting to things that are a whole lot less figurative and a whole lot more just straightforward. This angel, not the angel of the Lord, not a mighty angel of the Lord, just an angel grabbed hold of the serpent, the devil, Satan. What'd he do to with him? Well, it says here that he. So that he should. He. He said he cast him. Now listen. And bound him for a thousand years. And he cast him in the bottomless pit. Preacher, I thought the devil was like, powerful. He's only powerful to the extent that God allows him to be. He's only powerful to the extent God allows him to be. Just a regular common old angel grabbed him by the nap of the neck, hauled him off, tied him up for a thousand years and threw him in a pit. Which angel? One of them. One of them did it. You mean only one of them got him? Yeah. You thought he was Jason Bourne. You thought nobody could get him. You thought you'd have to send dozens and hundreds of them just to get on top of him like ants and hold him down so you could tie him down. No. An angel sent by God, under the power of God walked up, grabbed hold of him, tied him up, threw him into pit. That the keys that he got from Jesus to do. From the keys that he got Jesus to do. You understand that, don't you? Are y' all listening to me? What does that mean? He has only the power God gives him, which means he ain't all that great. Now, he is the serpent of old. He deceives mankind. He is a liar. He is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He does have spiritual authority and does have spiritual power, but that power is very limited. And in fact, that power, when it goes up against one angel who is sent by God under the authority of God and given the power that was given to Jesus Christ to act on that angel can handle all of it. All of it. So those of you who say this, you know one of those things. Satan is a liar. Y' all have heard that, right? You hear that all the time. And folks will say it even when nothing's going on. Am I right? As if Satan is in control of things. Now. He is the prince of the power of the air, and he does control the fallen angels who rule the earth. But every place you step your foot, you have authority over. Why? Because you have the power of the living God in you, okay? And so he doesn't have authority over you. He doesn't have power over you. And in fact, you have more power in you than that angel does because you are a holy priesthood, a royal nation. You have the right to stand before a holy God and ask him anything in his name, anything according to his character and nature, and you shall have it. That's what that means when it says, you ask me anything in my name. What he's saying is, you ask anything according to my nature and character. Some people say, well, you got to ask things according to his will. Don't you listen to me? It's more than that. That's a very limited thing. In some ways, that's a cop out. Are you following me? What you're asking for is anything according to his nature. Now, to listen to when Mike was telling his story, he said. He said, lord, take my Harley. God said, I got plenty of those. In fact, my Harleys are better than any Harley you got. Am I right? Huh? Yeah, he's faster than a Harley. Okay. Then Mike goes through all the things he's got. Am I right? God's not impressed with the list. But finally, Mike gives the Thing that God. Now listen to me. He gave the thing he offered up, the thing that God had ordered him from his scripture, had instructed him, had given him a precept about, had given him a teaching about. He gave up the thing that God required of him. And you go, well, why did God require that? I don't know. But he says, husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church, insomuch, meaning this is how much insomuch that he died for her. So when Mike said, take me, what he was saying is, I am asking you this in your character and name. And the minute he did that, he had it. Because he says, if you ask anything in my name, meaning you ask it not in your name, not in your power, not in your will, not in your. Your nature. But if you ask it according to my power, my name, my will, my nature, you have it. And that's why the full power of the Holy Spirit came upon him. Okay? That's why that happened. We have authority over all the things that God has given us authority over. Could the children of Israel gotten giant ships and gone through the Mediterranean Sea and passed through the Straits of Gibraltar and cross the ocean and come to the United States and got out of the boat and said, I take this in the name of God and got. And been able to take the United. Take America. Could they have done that? No, because that's not the land God gave them. There's boundaries to what God gave them. He told them where it was at. He told them what to take. They weren't meant to take America. Could they have done it under the power of God in a theoretical sense? No. You go. Not even theoretically, Pastor. No. There's nothing theoretical past God because God is ultimate reality. There is no theoretical past God. God told them to take the land. He gave them judges. He said the land notice. The angel of the Lord said, I swore to give you. So can you take my territory? No. Can I take your territory? No, I can't. Do I have authority over what God's given you in his name? No. Do you have authority over what God's given me in my name? No, you don't. You glorify God in your own way, the way God made you to glorify him so that you know his nature yourself and you glorify him in your giftedness, in your call, in your. In how he made you to walk. Everybody glorifies God. Even the unredeemed. Everybody glorifies God. The unredeemed glorify God's judgment and wrath. That it's right and just the redeemed glorify God in each one's own unique way as you live through life uniquely in your unique time, in your unique space. So that angel had authority over Satan because Jesus, who had the keys to everything, who had all authority in heaven, on earth, told him under his authority to go and grab Satan by the nap of the neck, tie him up and throw him in the pit, bring the keys back to me. So when you act as if anything you have done was some trick from Satan that you had no real power over, you give him power which he does not possess. When you fail to take. When you fail to take what God clearly intended for you to have. When you fail to take it, it's not anybody else's fault but yours. These are hard teachings. I do know this. We're going to need them. We're going to need them. I do realize I was raised in somewhat of a unique way. I was not allowed to make excuses. If I made an A in math, I was expected to make an A in math from then on. I messed up when I learned to read in the third grade, I started making A's in everything. My dad said, well, you should make A's in everything. When I got hurt, he said, get up, let's go. Worse. Worse yet, my mom said, get up and let's go. Okay, I do realize that. I do realize that's what I was made. You were. You were made. He said you're a five talent. My father said you're a five talent man. You're. You're going to be responsible for that. You must act that way. He expected it from me. I know that. Are you following me? That's why. That's. I know it. I know it. There. I can't get away from it. I can't go to God and say, but God? No, no, but God. No, but God. Now I want you to hear me. It uniquely qualifies me to be a pastor because my job is to. Is to lead you to God. And the only way for you to be. For you to walk with God, the only way for you to walk with God completely is there must be complete surrender to his character, to his nature, to his name and to his will. The only way for you to experience the best from God is that you have to realize that there is nothing impeding you from having his character, his nature, his will and his name fully energized on your behalf. Except for you and your unwillingness or your disobedience. I know when I Don't take what I should get. I know why I don't take it. God's very plain with me about it. He's very clear. He doesn't play games with me. He doesn't say, oh, Chad, it's going to be all right. He might have done that when I was 8. Didn't do as much when I was 13. By the time I was 21, that was over with. There is no patting me on the back. There is no stroking me anymore. Go do what I told you to do. Believe what I say. Do what I say. Now, I want you to hear me. A mature Christian knows that. A mature Christian realizes that. A mature Christian walks in that I will do what my Lord has said. He is king. He is sovereign. His will is supreme. There is no will other than his. And if you do, you have authority. When Satan inserts himself in the things God has told you to do, to grab him by the nap of the neck and talk him out of the way. You don't have to pray, oh, Jesus, Satan is killing me. Please relent in the attack. You don't have to do that, Lord. Something's in the way. Don't know what it is. Perhaps you do. In the name of Jesus, move this out of the way so that I can walk in your will. It's easy. But you can't say it to me to him. If you don't believe it. You can't say it to him. If you're not going to walk in it, you got to walk in it. I'm telling you that this is one of the most powerful stories in scripture. As far as the spiritual walk, Jesus pulled. Let's call him Larry. Larry the angel aside and said, larry, I got some keys. Go down to the earth, grab Satan, Lucifer, that dragon of old, that deceiver of the body. You know who I'm talking about. Larry goes. I know who you talking about. Go get him. You go get him. Go grab him. Here's some. Here's some chains. Chain him up, throw him in the pit. Come back and bring me the keys. Now. If you were Larry the angel, what would you do? I don't know about that. Is there a boat leaving anytime soon? I don't speak very well. I was taken into captivity when I was 13. They made me eat royal food. I'm just a woman and I'm married to this pagan king. Who am I to stand in what in God's place? Who am I to take up the mantle of saving his people? I'm just a stupid Fisherman, I say stupid stuff all the time. Why me depart from me, Lord? For am I a sinful man? How many stories I got to go through with you? Go where? Listen, I ain't. I'm from here. My high school team is Ur of the Chaldeans. You want me to go where? You're not being very specific, Lord. You just said, go to a people you don't know and live in a place you don't know. I want you to know. I don't know. Now, I want you to hear me. I want you to hear me. Sure. Should. Should the disciples and those who walked around with Jesus, should they have understood and believed more? Perhaps. But I want to tell you they saw the miracles of Jesus and they didn't. And he told them when they believed on him after the resurrection, that they were blessed because they believed on Him. But more blessed are those who believe on him and have not seen. Which means that his blessing, the power and wonder of his name, his promises are more powerful to those who have not seen and yet believe. And those who have not seen and yet believe begin to see things that they would never imagine to be. But you've got to become that in your heart. He says to them, don't harden your heart like in the rebellion where they wanted to chase after other gods, where they want to chase after the world, where they wanted to chase after the easy path. He says, don't harden your heart like in the rebellion. He says. He says. He says, come to me, sit with me, reason with me about this. And when we do that, he grows what we believe in, who we are. He grows our faith. When we don't do that, I want you to hear me. When we don't do that, we take nothing. We do nothing, and our lives reflect it. As you go today, I pray that

the Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jes
