Hope Alive: Applying God’s Word to Your Daily Life
The Revelation 20:13
I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today.
In Jesus name, it says, the sea gave up. Gave up its dead. Now, this is interesting because there's a lot of giving up of the dead here. Okay. When you read the word. See, we've been doing this for a while. What do you think the Gentiles have? I always said that. All right, the sea is the Gentiles. If you think about it. If you think about it, it's so cool to figure it out. When you. When these pictures are made, what did God tell Jonah to do? Go to Nineveh. Who lived in Nineveh? The Gentiles. What did he do? He ran away and got into a boat, which represents what? Salvation. And he floated on the. Which is the Gentiles. And God said, I told you to go to the Gentiles, not get in a boat and float on the Gentiles. So what did he do? He sent a storm. And in the midst of the storm, the men on the boat said, who were, by the way, Gentiles, who said, what are we going to do? We know you're a man of God. And he said, well, this storm's because of me. Go to Nineveh and be in the ocean. Right. He chose the physical ocean rather than the spiritual ocean. Makes sense. Once he. Once he. He said that, they said, no, we ain't doing that. The God who sent this storm will be mad at us because you know what the storm is. And if we throw you in, he's going to punish us for throwing you in. He says you're already under the punishment. When and what caught him? A whale. Not a whale. The Bible says a fish. Okay. What? A fish represent people that are redeemed. Grabbed him, took him under. He did not make a fire in the belly of the fish so he could stay warm. Okay. As. As Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days. So the Son of Man will be in the earth three Days. How was Jonah in the fish? Like Jesus was in the earth. Both of them dead. Okay. He was spit back out, which is a picture of being resurrected. Okay. He was resurrected. And then what did God do? He didn't change God's mind going through all that. I love people talk about free will and listen, I believe in free will. As far as you have a free will when you're born again to. To choose God's will and God's way. And you get rewarded for choosing it. But we don't all choose it. We know that. Right? We talked about the lost sheep, and we talked about the lost son. Right? All right. We don't. We don't choose it. We choose our own will in our own way. Right. Our hearts are always being turned to our own will in our own way. But. But. But you can't overcome the will of the Father by your will. And if you think your will is preeminent in any way, that's wrong. Now if you'll think about that in its depth, it is a privilege that God allows us to willfully choose him. You need to hear that. If you could willfully choose him outside of him, you would be God. You're not God. That is hard. I. I realize you got to do some deep digging. Deep. Are you following me? And one of the things you got to do is when you see something in the Bible that doesn't fit with the way you think, you just don't discount it because you got these other things over here that you think make you. Make you right. I'm trying to teach y' all tonight, okay? Yeah. You following me? Don't not read a part of this book because it doesn't fit with your theology. Remember, it's your theology, not God's theology. And by the way, theos means God, so that's Godology. Okay? Did we just lose me? No, I. Listen, you don't have a God ology. Yeah. You don't have a theology. There's only one God, and there's only one ology of him, and that's his ology. So there's only one theology. Now you can come up with your own. You can write your own books. Book of Mormon, Quran, okay? But that's your Godology, which you don't have. If you'll notice, both of those were given by an angel. Apostle Paul says, if anyone comes to you, even an angel as light, do not listen to them. Why? Because we have the full revelation of God. You don't have an ology. There's only One ology, and that's God's ology, which is theology. And how he does things. His will is supreme, and his will is completely go done. He allows you to join him because he wants you to learn how to be as he is. But you don't get to come up with it on your own. And so the end result is, if you read something in here that doesn't fit with your understanding of God, I want you to hear me. This is not wrong. Your understanding is not full enough to include what he said. So what do you need to do, Huh? I want you to hear me. If. If you didn't believe in a widget and stuck somewhere in Habakkuk, a widget was mentioned, and you strongly believe that there's no such thing as a widget. But the Bible says the. I don't care if you think that there is. No, there are no widgets. God said there were, and they got picked up. Now you're going, what are you talking about, widgets? I'm just making an analogy. It's an absurdity. To get you to the point, okay? So many times people says, oh, he just. That's only mentioned once or that's only mentioned twice. Or that's only. You know, that. Only there. And I'm going to. So if I have a. If I have a view of God that does not that the widgets don't fit in, then my view's wrong. Okay? Now, does that mean that I'm lost or something? No. Your view of God started out wrong. The only reason it's ever partly right is because he's revealed himself to you. Makes sense. So you've got to figure out how that passage fits in your understanding of God. And you know the best way to fit. Why widgets. Gotta say, I'm glad you asked. Just think about them widgets. Down the road, something's gonna happen. I'm gonna show you why widgets are widgets, okay? That's how God works. Does he always answer your question right? Then how does this fit God? And you go, he goes, oh, kind of like Becca. Becca had asked me why at five years old, an answer that I could only give her when she's 15 years old. Okay? I just have to say, baby, this is how it works, and I'll explain it later to you. All right now. And then she go, well, why? Because you can't get it right now. Are you following me now? Listen, I can teach you multiple, very multivariable calculus at 7 years old. I know it. I've Done it. I wasn't perfect at it, but a B student. Are you following me? All three semesters of calculus. All right, so I can, I can explain it to you, but you're not going to get it because you don't even know algebra yet. Makes sense. All right? There are some things you're. Walking in other things so he can get you the place where you have an answer for the thing you're worried about. And one day you'll just be riding along it. It happens to me all the time. It happens to me all the time. Something will happen. One, somebody will say something to me. It'll just a couple weeks ago we were in. We were in pastor's Bible study and somebody said something didn't have nothing to do with what I was thinking about. God said, that's why you see that? That's why now what was why? What I was thinking in my brain. He was telling me that's why that works that way. It's a question I've had for 20 years. I don't know why that works that way. God said it, it's a widget. I'm going to just take the widget as it is. Some days he. You just wake up and all of a sudden he goes, that's what the widget is. Say that widget. See the widget, Widget, widget right there. Because this is the full revelation of God, which means there's nothing that God can reveal to you that's not in here. Y' all look at me like I'm crazy sometimes. That's why this is so important to me. Because I know there is no answer other than in here. I know that I don't know the all the answers. I know that on the scale of no knowable answers, I'm probably In, you know, the.001%. As you go today I pray that
the Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
