This is Chad Harrison and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today.
In Jesus name, the sea gave up their dead. The gentiles, death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. All right, I want you to hear me. I don't know what death is that delivers of its dead.
I don't know what that is. I don't know.
Nowhere in my mind, nowhere in my. Is in the bosom of Abraham. Okay? And on one side is paradise and on the other side is Hades. And there's a chasm in between that can't be crossed. How do I know that? Rich man and Lazarus. Okay, I. I know somebody who is going to Hades. And Jesus took him to paradise. I want you to think about what was required of the guy on the cross who had been badgering Jesus before he looked around and saw the power of God manifest around him. Everything went dark. The earth shook. He realized. Oh, okay. And what I want you to notice. Did he say, Jesus, you must be the son of God?
No,
I want you get this. Did he pray the sinner's prayer? No. What did he say? He says when you enter, when you enter your glory, can I go to paradise? Can I go with you? That's. I want you get this. You know, we love. God and say the right thing and bow and Prof. You know, we make up our rules for how a person gets to heaven. I'm just telling you. The thief on the cross, all he did was ask to go. You do you get that? I mean there's so many. And I gotta walk in that. And thief on the cross, all he had to do say, can I go with you? And God says, yeah, but there's a big difference between you and him. He just got to go. What are you gonna get when you get there? Because you've trusted me. He just got to go. He didn't do any work other.
That got him there.
Those who. Yeah, go ahead
of faith.
That's all that missed the threshold of faith, okay? All he did was he believed. That's all he did. All right?
He believed.
Now, I want you to hear me. So many people want to make up
rules for how people get in,
okay? Believes on the risen Christ.
He's born again. Because you can't do it if you're not. Art
you with me? It's hard, but I know that God knows better than I do. He knows how it's going to work
out, so I trust him with it.
Fits in some human theology.
It doesn't.
Are you following me? I don't teach anything but this and the verses that we're reading at that time. And I teach it in. Because what matters?
This.
So we got Death and Hades delivering up the dead and the seas giving up the dead. Now we know.
People in paradise.
So could you say that the Hades people or the Jewish people that didn't were not people? By the way, Jesus went to Hades and preached the gospel. So by the way, there is revelation there, okay? Every time you want to make an excuse, God has an answer in His Word, but you better find it. Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them and they. And they were judged. Each one according to his work in light of His Word. Each person Little H was courting was. Let me use. Use there. Each person was. And if you don't measure up fully and completely 100%, you're dead. But of sin and death, the judgment of. Of the bema seat. Judgment is not a judgment of sin and dead. Why is that? Because your sin has been covered by the cross.
You trusted what he revealed.
You go now. Listen to me. Nobody. How did he come to a revelation that Jesus was the Messiah? He looked at the nature around him and the ev.
I probably shouldn't been joking on you. Oh, can I go with you?
You know, if you build your own theology, there's always a story in here
that messes it up.
And there's no way for you to get it right in your own heart without you searching it out yourself. Because these things are not discerned by flesh and blood.
Huh?
Isn't that what he said to Peter? When Peter said, thou art the Christ, the Son and the living God? He says, flesh and blood. So you don't understand it unless the Father reveals it to you by the Spirit. You don't understand it. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, okay? The Bible says those who are redeemed do not suffer the second death. What is the second death? The first death is being separated from God temporarily in the universe. The second death, he removes the universe and you are separated from.
Based off of Jesus and his Revelation.
And anyone not found in the written in the book of life was cast
into the lake of fire.
So if you're not in the book and it's not a ledger,
There's no
story of life that you're the subject matter of.
Then you go to hell. Actually, you go to the lake of fire.
Pastor, what's the difference between Hades, hail
and the lake of Fire? I don't know, but they're all similar.
You. I don't care. Any of those three locations don't go. Okay? Now, I really don't know how to
teach you that any other way because it. Depth to it.
And as I read it, when I'm thinking about it, and I'm just telling you how I. Cause some of y' all not gonna be able to think about it the
way I think about it.
Make sense. Because if any of you said, I don't like calculus, then you're not gonna
be able to think about it like I think about it.
Okay. Makes sense. If you like to go to museums and look at paintings, mean you ain't
thinking about it the same way.
Okay. Look at paintings with Kathleen. But I'm going to be sitting there
thinking, you know, I don't see how that's any better than what, you know, Bubba drew over in Roanoke, you know, why is that better? I don't know, but it is better.
I just don't know.
Right. God will reveal himself to you if you'll seek it.
And so he will reveal his understanding
to you if you'll seek it.
And our job as sons of light is to be light and be attractive to those who are seeking light, and they'll go seek light. And the fact that you seek it out in any way is evidence of God's.
The one of them words. It's not in the Bible, but it's biblical understanding, just like Trinity is not in the Bible. It's just a word to describe a spiritual truth. Okay.
How many of y' all believe in the providence of God?
Most of the founding fathers did. Okay. So. I think it's important to understand this as best you can because it leads you to understand the life that's in you. Am I way past time? 706. I done good.
I way.
Yeah, I'm. Okay. Which is really good, Right? Why?
Because all the judgment's over. Satan's in the bottomless pit, and everybody that's Not a part of the kingdom. They're out. Okay. And wait till you figure out what.
What the New Jerusalem's like, because when I read it to you, you're going to think, oh, my goodness,
how can we all live in the New Jerusalem? Once I. Once I describe it to you, you're going to realize that your dwelling place is way better than a mansion.
Okay.
I'm. I feel like there's going to be a golf course in mine and every morning when I get up, it's going to be a. Feet on every hoe.
Okay, that's a joke.
I used to think they'd be playing
football, but now I realize not really. Probably not probably any football there. If there is, I won't have anything
to do with it.
God won't let me near it.
Okay. Yeah.
I mean, I'm telling you, it's so much fun reading when you realize, oh my goodness. Because the Bible says that everybody can see it.
Okay. It's got.
I mean, wait till. Wait,
wait.
Just wait.
Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you for the full revelation that is your son.
We thank you that we can. We can really dig deep and grow and become. And father, that it is so easy to just abandon the seeking of your will and your ways. So easy to turn to our own flesh and to our own heart and to our own thoughts. Father, I ask that you would guard us from that and that you would protect us from that. And that you would reveal yourself more and more to us. And Father, you would teach us how to know you, to love you. And Father, we would. We would know what it is to be loved by you. In Jesus name, amen.
As you go today, I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
