The Revelation 21:24-27 CONTINUED

I am Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and had been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. The purpose of studying scripture is that you might know the character of Jesus Christ, and that you might see the world from the Father's perspective. That you gain wisdom that changes your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open His word to you and allow you to see Him and to know Him. To know His will, that you might glorify Him and that you might walk in faith and power each day, especially today. In Jesus name.

This is Chad Harrison, and you're listening to Hope Applying God's word to your daily life. Hi, this is Chad Harrison, and I am the teaching pastor of Lake Community Church and have been serving as a pastor for 25 years. I'm also a practicing attorney. This podcast is designed to help you study God's word and find God's will for your life. I pray in the name of Jesus right now that God would open up his word to you and allow you to see him and to know him and to know his will, that you might glorify him and that you might walk in faith and power each and every day, especially today in Jesus name.

If you don't have personal revelation from God, how do you know what to believe or do when he's explaining it to you. Or when a situation develops? And then listen. And then even if you know what you should do, then you got to learn how to do it. Because it ain't just. I mean, you sit there and watch somebody swim all you want to, but until they're motivated to swim, it's hard to do it. I'm going to tell this story. Rod's not here, but my brother brought a lot of the football players over to the lake Labor Day weekend back about 15 years ago, and we cooked hamburgers for them and had. Had made homemade ice cream. It was a great day. Two thirds of the players that were there were black. Now, I'm going to tell you in the south, black folks will tell you. Some of them will, we don't swim. Amen. That's right. Now, I want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to me. I explained to them why black folks don't swim. They thought it was something that was innate to them and they couldn't do it. I said, this is why black folks couldn't swim. There's two things that were illegal to teach black folks when they were enslaved in the South. First thing is, they could not be taught to read. The second thing is, they could not be taught to swim. You know why? Because if you can't read, you can't read a map and you can't read any signs on the. On the road. And you can't figure out how to get out of the South. And if you can't swim, you're sure not getting out of the south because there's way too many rivers and creeks to cross to get out. So you didn't teach black folks how to swim, and you didn't teach them how to read because it was against the law. I told them boys that them rascals got their floaties on and headed right for the water. Now, what? You hear me? Because I'm a Use this term. And it's. And it is an important term that is a slave mentality. I can't do something that God clearly made me to do. And obviously he made us able to swim because we can, okay? Now, some people take it too far and they swim way too far. Are you following me? But that's okay, all right? Now, would you hear me this. Because I'm going to use that term. I'm going to turn that phrase around, okay? The things God has said in his Word that you don't know and you don't do is because you are still enslaved to sin and the past. You are. And God wants to break that mentality and give you revelation and teach you to do that. Rod swims now, even with half a foot, or really not even half. It's really a. It's just really his heel. All right? He slims now. He swims now. Okay? Why?

Because he knows he can.

We're not going to be that anymore. All right? That's an important idea. And I want you to understand that is going to reach its fullness in this city. It's going to be the pinnacle of that for humanity and for you. So why shouldn't you practice being it? Now, we're going to get to a passage of scripture on Sunday morning. I'm not promising you this year. I'm not promising you that. Okay? It is in John, and we will get to it. But. But he says, the miracles I do, you shall do. And even greater than these. All right? And I'll just give you a little hint about it. Now, you say, jesus said, I'm going to do greater miracles than him. And the answer to that is yes. Okay, now you go, well, how does that work? Well, remember, he's God. So when he does a miracle, that's God doing a miracle. You're not God. And if not God can do God's stuff that's a greater miracle that glorifies God than God doing great stuff. And that's the whole purpose of him, of us being, period. He could take something as broken, lifeless, dead, unredeemable, and literally make it function as he is, which is to his ultimate glory. And so understanding that is. Well, it just. It just is what life's about. It is what life's about. Yes, ma'. Am. Miss Lisa. Now remember, every time you say something, the folks online in the podcast can't hear you. Yes, ma'. Am.

I believe that the power of God is going to come on this.

He's going to pour his spirit out on all flesh. That's right. And it's going to be. He's going to do great miracles.

And we are operating in the power of the Holy Spirit. And these things happen. It's real important to make sure all the glory is given.

Given to God. That's right. Well, you're gonna be out.

Yeah.

Your flesh gets in the way. Very good. Thank you, Lisa. Excellent. I like to pick at least every once in a while. And Diane. All right. It says, but there shall be no means enter in it, anything that's defiled or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of life. Because only human beings that are redeemed are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. And you go, well, is the book still being written when this goes on? Well, are there people, new people, new believers? Well, yes, there are. So there's only going to be the people who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. And remember, the Lamb's Book of life is not a ledger. It's the story of Jesus in his people. It's the story of the church. Okay, so your story is going to be in there, all right? And it's going to be way more than Jael, who is the lady in our Bible study this morning. It's going to be way more than just three or four verses. You're going to be several volumes, maybe hundreds of volumes, maybe thousands of volumes. And everybody's going to know the Lamb's Book of life because you will be known. Even. You will know even as you're fully known. And that's what that means. You will know all the works of Jesus even as those around you fully know all the works of Jesus. That's what that passage means. What time is it? Is it seven o'? Clock? Well, let me. Let me finish with this because it's really, really good. I read you the verses before it, but I want to read you again because I think it's so cool. We're going to Hebrews, chapter 11. I read you 8 through. 10. Remember, this is the roll call of faith. And the first ones mentioned are the patriarchs. Abraham, Sarah,

Noah.

It goes through Enoch, Abel, Cain. I mean, Abel, and just goes through all of them. And then he gets to 13 and he. He says this. These all died in faith, meaning all the patriarchs died in faith. Now, don't you hear me? They died in faith, but they didn't die in full knowledge, not having received the promises. Meaning they were promised things and they had not fully received them. Okay. But having seen them afar off, were assured of them. How did they see him afar off? Because God revealed them to them. He revealed his promises to them. And even though they did not get to touch them with their hands, they perceived them through He. They perceived them through time and space, beyond time and space. They were insured of them, and they embraced them and they confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Meaning they understood that this was not their home. The earth as it was, was not their home. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. Meaning they understood that that was not their home, but they were seeking a homeland. That's a confession. It says, and truly, if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have not. They would have had opportunity to return. Meaning they had a chance to go back to their old life, but they chose not to. They chose not to live the way they used to live. They chose not to live with who they used to live. They separated themselves, but now they desire a better, that is a heavenly country. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them, And that's promised to the Old Testament saints who are the roll call of faith in the New Testament. What city is he talking about? He's talking about the City of God. Said they didn't want that old country, they didn't want that old way. They didn't want that old place. They wanted to go to the city. That's the City of God. Now, if you could just get a taste of it. And I'm talking about beyond. Beyond just the. You know, Paul says that let's move past the simple things of baptism. And you know, he's talking about the things that most Christians, that's all they trust in. He says we ought to go to deeper things. We ought to eat meat. You ought to expect big things. Some of you sit there and go, I don't even have a clue what you're talking about, Pastor. Okay, that's fine. But now, you know, you should expect bigger things. Quit looking in the flesh. Study the word, Receive the spirit. Allow the spirit to, to open your eyes. Do not let the world control your perception of what God is doing. Allow his word to. His Word controls those things. Now, does that mean you, you, you don't continue to do the Mundane things of life. Yeah, y' all ought to take baths and eat, pay your bills, go to work, raise your children. All that stuff. You ought to do all of it all day or bit of it. You with me? But in the midst of it, you ought to explore God in his fullness. And you have not. Because you ask not. That's right. Philip? Yes, ma'. Am.

The Holy Spirit called me to make a list of the thing that I felt like the. Tweak it every once in a while.

There's nothing wrong with that. Kathleen. You and Kathleen fit like God tells her to make list all the time. The list that bothers me is the list he tells her to make for me to do. You know what I'm talking about? I told her layout about two weeks ago. I said, but she said, what are you doing tomorrow? I said, I'm working on a list. What list? List of things I got you to do. And she almost got offended about it. She said, no, no, no, no. I make the list for you. You don't make the list for me. And if I'm not mistaken, that's. That's a chain of command, isn't it? Am I right? Am I right about that? So how. Where would she be in the chain of command? Where? I mean, Dean, where would she be in the chain of command if she was making a list for me? Huh? You know why? Because he's got somebody makes a list for him. All right? So there you go. It's just the way it works. All right? Amen. You know, one of the cool things about God and one of the great things I think that Jesus is, is he's going to be God. He's going to be wonderful. He's going to be powerful. But you know what else he's going to be? He's going to be a whole lot of fun. I mean, those of you say that heaven's going to be boring. You don't have any clue. It's going to be joyous. It's going to be a lot of fun. There's going to be a lot of fun in heaven. So if you're worried about. You're missing out on the fun now, you're not. You're not missing out on any of the fun, okay? You're not. And so many people, especially if you're raising small children, you know what I'm talking about? You think I'm never getting out of this prison. You are going to get out of it. You are. You are. They're going to be able to put on their clothes and go to the bathroom on their own and eat their own food. Okay, there you are. And then eventually they're going to want. Here's what's so cool about God, is when they get 15, 16, 17, they want to leave you. Okay. Which is, I think, the most fabulous thing God ever did. All right. Is make them want to go. All right? And so. And if they don't want to go, kick them out anyway. All right? Just kick them on out of there. That's just some parenting advice. I had to deal with juveniles in the morning, so I'm sure I'll be saying those things. All right? Amen, baby. Yeah. She shook her head. She didn't say Amen, though. All right, let's pray. Father, we do thank you for your word. It's powerful, Father. It's light, Father. It's health to a whole man's body. It teaches us. It ignites the fire of the Holy Spirit in us. Father, your word, your son, and all that he is, Father, is great before us. Father, we praise his name and we praise you because you are the author of these things. Father, may we know them, see them, live them, and love them in Jesus name. As you go today, I pray that

the Lord will bless you and keep you, that he'll make his face to shine upon you, and that he will give you hope and peace today in Jesus name.
